Garden Dreams and To-Dos. A Little St. Paul Garden. How We are Learning About Urban Farming and Gardening. March 25, 2010. Just ordered rain barrels! Posted by kmccully under Summer 2010. At the AWESOME price of $45 each! Recycling Minnesota is offering a price of $65 and then the Capitol Watershed District is giving another $20 per barrel of after that. There are other deals for Ramsey/Washington County residents, too, so make sure you look at the Recycling Association of Minnesota. I am SO JEALOUS!

Garden Dreams and To-Dos. A Little St. Paul Garden. How We are Learning About Urban Farming and Gardening. March 28, 2010. On Poo and To Do. Posted by kmccully under Summer 2010. Well, we are off for a spring break trip to Miami on Monday. Seems the temp will be the same here as in Miami. Doh. When we come home, we are going to start some seeds (esp. tomato) under our grow lights in the basement. I also did some winter sowing, so I am hoping those sprout for us eventually, too . . . Chronicles of a small kitchen garden in the Far North. Laquo; Making a Worm Composting Bin. Posted April 15, 2011 by AlaskaVegetableGardening in Potato. I picked up some seed potatoes earlier this week. Tonight I set them out to start chitting. I decided to go with German Butterball and Nordonna. 2) I’d like to support local companies and this way I’ve supported a local feed store and the local farm that grew the seed potatoes. Here’s what they look like almost two weeks after having been set out&#...

Chronicles of a small kitchen garden in the Far North. Posted by AlaskaVegetableGardening in Seed starting. In the past I’ve usually bought seedling for plants that I want to have a head start and planted the remainder directly in the garden when the weather allows. So far I’ve started some tomatoes, peppers, leeks, chives, basil, and artichokes. Posted by AlaskaVegetableGardening in Seed starting. I’ve been reading a lot about winter sowing. What is winter sowing? Here’s how I did it. 1 Gather together ...

Suburban Homesteading in Minnesota. We like to celebrate creative activities, so we’re giving ourselves some space to do that. The page is meant to evoke a place similar to the creative activities building at the MN State Fair. Along the way new pictures will be added of things made recently or long ago. First item: Mutti crocheted this queen size bedspread around the time she was training to become a nurse. It is still in excellent shape! The rest of the items have captions only to save space. Suburban Homesteading in Minnesota. Congratulations Clean Water Portland! May 29, 2013. Portland Oregon has voted against fluoridating their water. I didn’t use to think the small amount of fluoride in water mattered until I read information on the Fluoride Action Network (FAN) site, and heard expert testimony by leading scientists and medical professionals. Suburban Ton | earthlytenthomestead

Suburban Homesteading in Minnesota. We were inspired by the Urban Ton Project in St. Paul Minnesota, and thought it would be fun to track the pounds of produce that grows in our yard this year. I’m trying out a widget from the Ticker Factory to track the total. I set the goal for 2,000 pounds (short ton) out of sheer optimism. I’d prefer a simple pedometer type on the main page, as this one is too wide to be placed there- but…this one is free. Archive: Pounds of Produce 2011. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

That’s 100 lbs shy of half a ton! It’s several hundred pounds more than last year, and we’ve still got a few sparse broccoli, carrots, cabbage, onions and beets to pick. There aren’t many of them though, and it’s a good thing as we just got an unexpected overnight snow. This entry was posted in Alt Energy. You are com...
