I was looking at some newer photos of the painters of Dafen and it’s always fascinated me how even though our knowledge of these painting-sweatshops was obscure (it’s only until recently that these painting villages have become a sort of popular attraction to the western public), the paintings produced there were, unbeknownst to us, part of our everyday life. So what’s the difference between copying others work for commercial purposes, and copying ones own work for commercial purposes? In the end, when y...

Although every day I wish I would sketch a hell lot more (James Jean's fault), I do a fair amount of sketching. I have to admit though, that I have no intentions of my drawings being anything more than personal notes. I guess that's why I've never thought of my sketchbooks of being worthy of reproducing. on that note, here are some scans. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Awesome Inc. template. Uribe Art News: 10/2010

http://uribeartnews.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

In art, all that is not indispensable is unnecessary). It I just had to paint it and solve it in this particular manner because it meant that I was making a conscious decision to follow something. That "something" is probably different for everyone but in my case, it meant not touching things that I loved, even though every ounce in my body begged me to keep painting on top. So after a while I said fuck it, and I couldn't stick to the drawing and I just had to move paint around and mess everything up.

Uribe Art News: Figuring things out

http://uribeartnews.blogspot.com/2012/02/figuring-things-out.html

And there's nothing that satisfies me more than putting the illustrator's hat on, and delve into acts solely dictated by whims. See, when I paint, I'm engaged in this serious act where I question everything I do, where reason tries to dominate my decisions and I'm taken to a place where I usually learn a ton of things about myself, but where the painting process feels sluggishly laborious. En especial la de papa Uribe. Porque odia el glare? February 29, 2012 at 9:38 PM. February 29, 2012 at 11:09 PM.

Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Marea" the small version. This piece was done last night, at least finished last night. It isn't very big, my work usually isn't but that is changing as well. Now, the other version of this is 22"x30" not as dark, colorwise. I don't want to say that this one is a study because it was done after the bigger version. It is just a smaller continuation of it. Posted by alberto at 8:08 AM. Here are some drawings that I did. Having fun, evolving, refining, ect. Trying out sumi ink.
