New Year's Day 2007 Ruth Arcand Park. We started the New Year at midnight with friends, standing on our deck and watching firework displays all over Anchorage. Paul found some noise makers in the garage, and he and Jim popped them off into the snow. This afternoon we took a quiet walk, just us, in a park near our house. We talked about resolutions and I think mine from last year. The Peace Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love.

10 nov 12 off kilter. Today we hiked Bluedot again to see how the creek had changed. We were surprised to find that the trail fairies had built a new bridge downstream from the old. The logs bow down from each bank in a sway over the creek. The planks cover the entire length of bridge. A biker crossed just after we did. Thank you to all the folks who care for Anchorage's trails. 24 sep 14 harvest. My little apple tree had a good harvest this year and here's the last few raspberries, too. The first artichoke I've ever grown! Sunflower catching the last rays of the evening. 21 sep 14 glorious cottonwood. The poor cottonwood is under-appreciated in Alaska but the row across the street redeem their bad habitat of dropping cotton in early summer by turning a glorious gold each fall. 14 sep 14 biking fall colors. This will be a new phase of our life. And lastly, this evening is the start of Talkeetna's annual Birdathon event. We've got 24 hours starting at 6 pm to identify as many species of birds as we can. Don't let anyone tell you that little dogs want to stay inside on the couch watching soap operas. We've found the opposite to be true. In fact, bichon frises.
