The second Guide (MSO-447) was launched 17 April 1954 by the Seattle Shipbuilding & Drydocking Corp., Seattle, Wash. sponsored by Miss Ann L. Larson; and commissioned 15 March 1955, Lt. John E. Lowell in command. Her hull classification changed from AM-417 to MSO-447 on 7 February 1955. Cam Ranh Bay on September 30, 1971.

2014 Reunion Summary and 2015 Association letter now available in News and Info! 2015 marks the 113th anniversary of the destroyer in the United States Navy. The first U.S. destroyer, USS Bainbridge (DD1) was commissioned on November 24, 1902. The Bainbridge was 250 feet in length, displaced 420 tons, had a top speed of 29 knots, and a crew of 75. This site is dedicated to the men who served aboard the Gyatt from 1945 to 1969.
