Clubfoot is a common congenital deformity of unknown, multifactorial cause. There is good evidence that there are genetic factors involved. While it can be associated with other conditions, most often it is an isolated diagnosis. Although this diagnosis can be frightening and overwhelming for new parents and their families, it is easily treated and most children respond very well to treatment.

In cases where your child is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, we do not recommend starting casting in the hospital. Again, treatment should start within 1-3 weeks from discharge from the hospital. Our physicians have each been trained specifically in the Ponseti Method. For clubfoot correction, and two of our doctors trained personally with Dr. Ignacio Ponseti.
