Zion National Park History and Information. Located in southwestern Utah. 43 miles west of St. George. Zion National Park is Utah’s oldest and most visited national park, annually hosting an average of 2.5 million visitors. The park’s main attraction is Zion Canyon. Century, David Flanigan constructed a system of cable works to transport timber from the high mountain forests approximately two thousand feet above the canyon to the valley below.
