Day 6: Sapporo to Asahidake - MichaelAdams.org
http://www.photos.tolaes.com/Blog/Japan2011Day6SapporoToAsahidake
Day 6: Sapporo to Asahidake. Bit of a sleep in this morning to try and stay ahead of the slight cough I've picked up; it appeared to work and I felt a lot better. 10am and I was off on another adventure. First stop was the river to watch the fish for a bit. My goodness they're big! And they move like 10,000 ton submarines too: slowly and ominously. Note the size of the leaf floating past. Down to the station again and snapped a picture of a. A couple of us boarded and off we went. At first there was ...

I'm a student and I need to cook. Plus I have a bad memory for details, so what better way to remember what to have for dinner than to put it on the web? Plus this way I can share the wealth. should be fun! A quick and easy one pot one pan meal that even tastes good. The most versatile snack food known to mankind! Cheap and quick, and very very very tasty. Quick, easy and rather cheap, plus it uses up left over rice. The tastiest and yummiest and most non-boring thing I can co. Escape from boring food!

3d Printer - part 9 - MichaelAdams.org
http://www.michaeladams.org/Blog/3dPrinterPart9
3d Printer - part 9. You might think I've completely forgotten about my 3d printer, but rest assured it is still receiving attention. My main complain so far with the machine is that some of its prints were not very square. Often successive layers that. So I decided to redo the electronics. I ordered a parallel port breakout board off ebay for a few dollars, same as I'd used on my CNC machine. This arrived and was duly installed:. Get a linear axis for the extruder. I set this up as the U axis. Attach th...

Day 5: Sapporo and a trip on the Lavender train - MichaelAdams.org
http://www.michaeladams.org/Blog/Japan2011Day5SapporoAndLavenderTrain
Day 5: Sapporo and a trip on the Lavender train. As dawn broke we started skirting through numerous concrete jungles and a dense fog gave everything the same washed out gray colour. Not the most pleasant scene to awake to and I wondered what I was in for. At just after 6:00am we arrived in Sapporo and we filed off the train. I have never seen so many zombies before! I stood around dazed for a while, barely even remembering to snap a photo of our train. I felt like death warmed up! And going from 3rd to 4...

Day 4: Tokyo to Aomori - MichaelAdams.org

Day 4: Tokyo to Aomori. I was pretty impressed he'd managed to work it all out, however when he presented the tickets to me I saw that he'd taken my destination and computed an incredibly optimal route that would have me in another island within about 12 hours! And the yellow line was only an extra foot back so no complaints from me. Sendai arrived and people poured off the train. I checked my ticket and I now had a seat in the same carriage through to Akita. It felt. Rice and maybe asparagas? I noticed ...

Saw horses - MichaelAdams.org

Having just bought a house, I'm back in full DIY mode again. And as everyone knows, DIY requires saw horses! So knowing that I would be needing a couple in the near future, I sat down with AutoDesk Inventor and quickly drew up a simple design, based on timber that was in cheap and plentiful down at The Ply Guy. And a few minutes later I had a set of plans ready to go:. 1x 2410x300x23mm industrial ply shelving. Small length of 150x10mm ply. First I trimmed them to length (770mm). To finish things off, I h...

High Altitude Balloon Experiments: Part 2 - MichaelAdams.org
http://www.videos.michael.net.nz/Blog/Misc/HighAltitudeBalloonExperimentsPart2
High Altitude Balloon Experiments: Part 2. My first test was a total success, but I had bigger plans. Happy that I could easily track my balloon from the land, and that the transmitter was powerful enough, I set about designing version 2 of my tracker. Version 2 had one big improvement: a GPS receiver. Now I'd be able to track it's exact latitude, longitude, and altitude. Other changes included:. A new lightweight PCB, made from flexible kapton material. Once a second, measure the temperature;. On the re...
