Darr; Skip to Main Content. Welcome to the Utter Family website. We live on the atoll of Majuro which is the capital of the Marshall Islands. Majuro is a thin ribbon of land on a coral reef surround a lagoon which is about 25 x 7 miles. There is a natural deep pass between two of the islets on the northern side. We live on the wide part of the atoll on the western end. This is the village of Laura. Our house and church are on the lagoon side.

Darr; Skip to Main Content. Welcome to the Utter Family website. At atoll is a ring of coral surrounding a lagoon. The coral reefs comprising the Marshalls appear to be built on the rims of underwater extinct volcanoes. The atolls are small. Majuro averages less than 1/4 mile wide and is only 1/2 mile wide at its widest point. Most of the atoll is only a few feet above sea level at high tide, and the highest point is about 10 feet.
