Corning volunteers take part in first Day of Action. Friday, April 24, 2015. United Way of the Southern Tier and Corning Incorporated have launched a new monthly initiative that links volunteer teams with projects across Steuben and Chemung counties. On Friday, Corning volunteers delivered more than 400 childrenâ s books to 33 Bright Red Bookshelf locations in Elmira, Corning, Bath and Addison. Bright Red Bookshelves offer new or gently used books free to children and families.
