Security simplified for day to day life. Thursday, May 6, 2010. FaceBook: It's not just about privacy, it's the principle. Lots of people are annoyed at FaceBook with its deployment of Instant Personalization. And what it has done for privacy, and I'm one of them. So, first, what exactly has FaceBook done? So every time they add a new partner, you have to go opt-out from that new partner. I have no problem with sites that don't give you privacy - I use Twitter. Without problem, the difference is Twitter ...

Identity is a funny thing. It seems intuitively obvious, but like many such concepts, it becomes really confused when you move it from the real world to the Internet. Them The firs...

Yet Another Blog: Von Welch: New mortiser table
http://blog.vwelch.com/2010/04/new-mortiser-table.html
Yet Another Blog: Von Welch. Random thoughts, how-tos, etc. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. At right is my stock mortiser and table. It was OK but had a few short-comings:. The table is rather short ( 9"), so it didn't support long stock like table legs well. I was constantly having to come up with ways of supporting work pieces. The fence was short, so it was hard to clamp stops for the start and stops of the mortises when I was doing multiple identical workpieces. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I noticed I've been using 'git stash' as a todo list for simple development tasks. The scenario is that I'm doing some coding and run across a minor bug that I don't want to fix right at that moment, I write myself a todo as a comment right at the relevant piece of code, e.g.:. Git stash save "foo.c TODO: check argument is greater than zero". Obviously this doesn't replace a real bug t...

Yet Another Blog: Von Welch. Random thoughts, how-tos, etc. Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Google Docs for Proposals - not quite there yet. As an experiment, I tried to use Google Docs. For a proposal I'm working on. Unfortunately, while I really like Google Docs for a lot of things I do, it fell short in a few critical areas in terms of proposals. So looks like I'm sticking with MS-Word for proposals for now. Which will do it for you, but you have to run it every time you change the sections.). Subscribe to: ...

Yet Another Blog: Von Welch. Random thoughts, how-tos, etc. Monday, November 2, 2009. A great post on standards by Adam Bosworth.
