Valerie received her BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in ceramics and photography from the University of Oklahoma in 2009 and her MFA in Ceramics from the University of North Texas in May 2012. Valerie is currently the Ceramics Lab Technician and an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Texas, where she runs the ceramics facility and maintains a studio. Valerie Banes Hancock 2014.

The lyrical nature of the alterations is inspired by dancers and their gracefulness, as well as the flowing nature of the fabric of their costumes.
