Born and raised in the UK, Valerie always loved to draw. Before emigrating to Canada she trained to be a teacher, specializing in sculpture. She attended the City and Guild School of Art in London. After a few years of teaching in the Hamilton area Valerie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art and Art History at McMaster University where she enjoyed painting, sculpture and printmaking. She continued in her teaching career in the Brantford area specializing in teaching Art and English.
