Welcome to my site. Here you will find updates of wildlife around Bridge of Cally and images of Kenya, Tanzania and Gambia. Sightings of ospreys are now coming in from all across the UK. New nest sites here are now complete but only time will tell if they will be acceptable. Trout are due for delivery in first week in April and hopefully the otters will leave some for ospreys. At home at Bridge of Cally I have a thriving population of red squirrels. There are 10 individuals I can recognise and a few others which are not as easy to distinguish. There are feed stations throughout the garden but there is also good sources of natural food. Habitat extends to conifers and beech with numerous birch and shrubs. The squirrels are active most days throughout the year even when winter temperatures are -8C. There are many dreys throughout the garden.

Kenya 2011 Masai Mara. The Masai Mara needs no introduction and is a continuous area with the Serengeti in Tanzania. The wildlife of the Mara is diverse with not only The Big Five present but an abundance of smaller mammals, reptiles and birds.

Kenya holds a special place in my heart! At the present time there is a range. Of conditions from severe drought in the north to floods in the south. The contrast is stark with beauty and death in all its extremes. The slideshow below contains a few images from July 2011. These young lions in Samburu, below, are not able to catch enough themselves and the older lions in their pride are reluctant to allow them to feed. The pride killed a young elephant but would not let them near the carcase.

Spring is not far away and birds are certainly pairing up and nest building. Goshawks are still displaying near to last years nest so fingers crossed. Fish are ordered for delivery first week in April so hoping that M will return safely to find his female from last year. Below is an image of M near osprey hq.
