The Algonquin Forestry Authority (AFA) is 40 years old this year, and two local businesses were recognized with being involved with the organization since the very beginning. Several dignitaries travelled to the Logging Museum on the east end of Algonquin Park to attend the AFA’s 40th anniversary celebration. Jeff Leavey, the general manager of the AFA, emceed the event.

Skip to main content. Thousands flock to Shrine of St. Ann. Pilgrims from across the diocese and beyond visited the Shrine of St. Ann in Cormac on July 26 for the 77th annual mass. Like year’s prior, the 11 am mass began with St. Ann’s banner being carried from the church to the shrine. Bardella Kelly and Daryl Schroeder carried the banner, which led a procession consisting of Knights of Columbus members, altar servers, priests and Bishop Michael Mulhall. To Kneel at Thine Altar.

Local archer Ryan Luckovitch is heading to Archery 3D Nationals in Manitoba later this month, looking to secure another gold medal in the competition. This time, however, he is bringing with him a skilful rising star, Regan Yaraskavitch of Palmer Rapids. This will be Yaraskavitch’s first time, however. She is likely the very first female from the area to compete on a national level.
