Nothing to terribly difficult, and nothing that's not been done many times before. but yesterday, late in the afternoon, while dinner cooked on the stove, i found myself making a small pile of hair clips. the difference, this time, is that little lucy helped- choosing and cutting the ribbons, picking out her favorite buttons- holding each up to the light and commenting on its merits. this one 'parkels! I've been hoping to try my hand at making cheese for awhile (especially after finishing animal vegetable miracle. By barbara kingsolver, in which she talks about how straight forward cheesemaking actually is). i took the plunge today after reading this post over at smitten kitchen. Funny, 21 days isn't really that long at all- a mere 3 weeks. but when you're waiting. And hoping for something. 21 days can seem like just about forever. our 21 days ended early this week, with two chicks hatched one night, one hatched the next morning and four more hatched the following evening. a total of seven chicks- the 2 hens were sitting on 17 eggs, but there were a couple of different issues that i think led to a low hatch count. Anyhow, there are here and they are fluffy! I miss this blog!

June 7, 2010. The best thing about a 3rd birthday is that she. It was the first birthday that she looked forward to, that made her so giddy with excitement that she was literally bursting to the point of overflowing into shaking hands and arms while falling back onto a pillow. That alone makes it all worthwhile! The fact that she got to celebrate for two days – both her actual birthday and the day of her party – was just the icing on the cake. Lot of help and suggestions from an amazingly talented friend.
