How to Breed Sheep, Geese and English Eccentrics. Thursday, August 28, 2014. Canal junction with the lock being the thin blue line between. The rather grand and business-like lock keepers office. The lock from the end closest to the Blaton-Peronnes Canal. But this is even more mystifying. Perhaps it is because the Belg...

How to Breed Sheep, Geese and English Eccentrics. Saturday, September 27, 2014. The model of barge or péniche. Mostly used on the French canals. Its original length was 39 metres, but fourteen of those had been chopped out (I know - sounds ludicrous, doesn't it? So why am I reminiscing then? The Ténacité - a shortened spits.

Sisterhood of the Travelling Teacup: We are the eye of our own upcoming storm.
http://travellingteacup.blogspot.com/2013/12/we-are-eye-of-our-own-upcoming-storm.html
Sisterhood of the Travelling Teacup. Friday, December 13, 2013. We are the eye of our own upcoming storm. So my husband Tony and I went to the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce (CVCC) luncheon today, which we do from time to time to stay abreast of what is happening in the CVCC community, and get a little face time (the old fashioned sort of face time, wherein you actually sit across a table from other people) with some of our community members. When I declined the tortierre explaining I am celiac, the...

Sisterhood of the Travelling Teacup. Thursday, March 12, 2015. Oh my goodness gosh! Spring arrived early this year. perhaps too early, and if we get a long dry summer in our semi-arid valley, I may regret rejoicing at the warmer days now. But it is hard to be level headed about it all when I have a lovely new greenhouse to play in! So I can ensure no freezing temps in the new space and start all my plants weeks and week earlier than normal! So without further ado. I present the Greenhouse-Mahal! I am get...

Sisterhood of the Travelling Teacup. Sunday, June 23, 2013. Relay for Life. 2013. I wish I could remember her exact words… But they went something like this: “You cannot imagine the feeling you get when you look at one of those glowing bags and it has your name on it.”. We were walking slowly, hearing the bagpipes sing both a sad lament for those who lost, and a determined celebration for those who survived, their battles with cancer. This, THIS was what it was all about. There was dancing, music, food a...

Sisterhood of the Travelling Teacup. Saturday, March 21, 2015. The social spread of hatred. It is a bit like Old Yeller out there. On Facebook I mean, and social media in general. It started out well enough. Getting to see cute posts, photos of family, keep in touch with all sorts of people and participate in groups! Ah, such fun. But like many things, including lovely, unvaccinated yellow dogs, we seem to have a tiny problem. Facebook appears to have developed rabies. Oh, well done. Look how they are fa...

Sisterhood of the Travelling Teacup. Sunday, May 11, 2014. The death of a drama empress. Interestingly, to me at least, is how often people have told me over the past five or so years, how "good I look" and attributed it directly to my happiness. Who am I to argue that I am happy? But when I think of the past five years, and all that has gone on, I find myself looking inward and asking, "The past five years have been in many ways my hardest by far, so why is it people see me as so happy? But when I consi...
