In A Complete World: October 2011

Reaching the peak of the world population. An intersection in Tokyo, the biggest metropole in the world (7.3.2009). Only one thing is for sure: population growth cannot continue forever. At some point the population has to reach its peak. It may be interesting to evaluate or prophesy what the maximum figure will be, but I think there is one question that is more interesting or at least more important: how will this peak be reached? The service shows each country plotted on a graph in a fashion that's ess...

Entertainment Evolution: July 2010
http://entertainment-evolution.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Maturing forms of entertainment. There are countless forms of entertainment in the world. As times change, some new ones emerge, some transform to something very different than what they used to be, some gain more popularity and some may wither away or even practically disappear. And of even not so well-known older movies can also be seen as an evidence of the maturity. From the early 1960's:. And here is the newer Outer limits series introduction from the late 90's:. Television ...

Entertainment Evolution: January 2011

Sunday, January 16, 2011. Stories about oppressed, yet superior men. What do The Matrix. And the Book of Eli. All four movies have a dystopian setting, where the protagonist has to constantly face either violence or oppression if not both. Yet once determined, the protagonist has the power to kick everyone's ass at will, do it with foes simultaneously attacking and often even against guns - all this to a supernatural extent. Does it always make sense? No Is it entertaining? Ethan Hawke in Gattaca.

Entertainment Evolution: Time travel stories that make sense?
http://entertainment-evolution.blogspot.com/2012/09/time-travel-stories-that-make-sense.html
Thursday, September 27, 2012. Time travel stories that make sense? I've always liked time travel movies. The whole concept itself is fascinating, and like with sci-fi in general, the stories are often quite different from each other, which makes them memorable. Even though many of these movies are quite entertaining, the logic in them almost never stands any closer look. Three very different time travel movies - Time Machine (2002), Looper (2012) and Primer (2004). Examples: The Time Machine (2002).

Entertainment Evolution: December 2010

Wednesday, December 29, 2010. How to motivate more miniseries? On the local television there was just a rerun of the miniseries The Lost Room. But even so, series like this are prone to either wither away and end up being much worse than they were in the beginning (like with Prison Break. Or experience a relatively sudden and thus at least somewhat unsatisfying ending : for example 24. So how to motivate producers to make miniseries? I think it's a pity really. Entertainment Evolution: Why Touch doesn't touch
http://entertainment-evolution.blogspot.com/2012/10/why-touch-doesnt-touch.html
Monday, October 22, 2012. Why Touch doesn't touch. One of the new television series this year, Touch. So it's a fantasy mixed with international stories. It could be interesting, right? Well, I think it fails badly. Here are four reasons why:. The boy doesn't only predict the future. He also predicts the consequences of his foreseeing, which makes him omniscient to a point where nothing really matters. Is it to try to hide the fact how simple and uncreative the clue actually was? The foreign characters s...

Friday, November 23, 2012. A game in one week". I made another very small game called "A game in one week". It was made for a tiny contest, where the only idea was to make a game in a week. I thought that the only proper way to participate would be to take it literally, so the game is really about going through the phases of developing a game. Try the game on Newgrounds. Click here for the full story. Sent by Johannes Hidén. Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Looper - The remaining question answered. In the movi...

Entertainment Evolution: My games
http://entertainment-evolution.blogspot.com/p/my-games.html
Down below there's a list of the games I've made so far, starting from the most recent one. I also have a separate site for my games at www.densegames.net. A bit more elaborate and polished game with an experimental idea. The game combines platformer gameplay and action with a arithmetics-based puzzle mechanic resulting in a pretty unique game experience. A simple game made for the 2013 Game Jam - probably to be ported for mobile devices. See the early trailer here. A game in one week. My first published...

In A Complete World: March 2010
http://inacompleteworld.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Life in a complete world. What if we would live in a world, where all this was no longer true? Then what would it be like to live in a truly complete world? Apart from the positive factors like equality and safety, also downsides can be seen. From the perspective of the contemporary man a future without linguistic or cultural diversity might seem like a depressing scenario. On the other hand would one be able to miss something that one has never experienced? In science there would be no new discoveries t...

In A Complete World: August 2010
http://inacompleteworld.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
In general, I'm not particularly interested in sheer beach resorts, where the most essential activity seems to be lying in the sun and barbecuing oneself - or more nastily put, purposefully making your skin look older and increasing the risk for skin cancer. Nevertheless I'm not entirely against beach life, so in case a specific resort offers something else too, a beach and/or pool are certainly a welcome addition. In case some one with experience on beach resort deckchair reserving policies ends up read...
