Charging +/- Lots of Jayne’s Waves – Excellent! | VanExtraOrdinaire.com
http://vanextraordinaire.com/2015/03/04/charging-lots-of-jaynes-waves-excellent
Our Travels to Date. Where Should We Go? Charging /- Lots of Jayne’s Waves – Excellent! Jayne has had numerous surfs this week. Far more than me. Sam seems to have made it her quest to ensure no surfing opportunity is missed. Although I suspect this is just how she is normally. “Awsome, Keen as…”. To be goofy, or not to be goofy, that is the question. My focus of late has been on the more primal tribal pastimes of hunting and gathering. Someone has to feed the frothing surf crew! This week also presented...

Our Travels to Date. Where Should We Go? Last Day in Tassie – For Now. Any day that starts with a 2 hour surf has got to be a good day. Ann Bay – Marrawah – Last Surf. Sam was pretty keen to get in the water this morning and couldn’t get her wetsuit on quick enough. This may have been partly to do with “allegedly” attempting to put it on backwards. Kneepads at the back? I would normally not be this mean, but she has dropped in on me on a few too many waves. “Party Waves” she calls them. So I finished pac...
Surfing – Tassie Style | VanExtraOrdinaire.com

Our Travels to Date. Where Should We Go? Surfing – Tassie Style. Why does it always look so calm from 30,000 feet in the air? The ocean down hear continues to amaze and entertain me. Surfing in Tassie can only be described with words like, challenging, journey, testing, searching, trailblazing, hard yakka and not for the weak of heart or thonged of foot. They do it different in Tassie. Here’s the format of a typical “Kooks on Tour” surf trip. Not far now…. And then… The beach! As you walk, refreshed, bac...

Peglegtalesoz…The Road to Cactus. February 28, 2016. So, I had him in the front seat but he continued to backseat drive! First we camped at Contos for a few days and I was stoked to have our Clearwater quiver in tact. He figured out how to press just his toes on the accelerator and do the clutch and brake with his left foot. Yew! Everything was back to normal! And we could finally have a fire- and the Caravan Park supplies the wood! They gave us directions to Whale Beach so that I could get a wave….

Monthly Archives: October 2016. Border Crossing: SA- NT. October 26, 2016. Before getting bit by the Opal Bug, we hightailed it north stopping at Marla to get some fuel. Not much happening there aside from some funny souvenirs…. Glenn pulled over to show me what he thought were Sturt Desert Peas but turns out the flowers were just common but then this thorny devil got up him! We had a wee and continued on to the border. First, we passed Mt Conner (which is the fool’s rock)…. Uluru aka Ayers Rock). We int...

Coober Pedy: A Delightful Gem in the South Australian Outback. October 25, 2016. And off we went further north to the sun and warmth…. We intrepidly rolled down the main street of the Opal Capital of Australia (or the WORLD, depending on your source) past the Opal Inn, Oasis Caravan Park, Underground Backpackers, Desert Cave Hotel, Potch and Colour B&B… to this little yard behind the Op Shop which was highly recommended by fellow travellers on WikiCamps. And the word stuck out here in the desert. Gaz ben...

Monthly Archives: November 2016. November 7, 2016. The forecast showed that the Red Centre was heating up so we decided to finally take that right turn and head for the east coast. There was a chance earlier in the week that we were going to have to turn left and go down the Great Central Road over to the West so Glenn took that opportunity to but the satellite phone he has been pining for! Before you can go right though, you have to go north on the Australian version of the autobahn for 525 kms. We set ...

June 6, 2015. Last July when we were coming up to the one-hotel town of Penong,. The turn-off for this South Australian surfing mecca, a huge front was coming in and we had just frozen our way across the Nullarbor so we didn’t even bother to drive the 20 c-c-c-corrugated klicks in to see it because we could see no way of warming up after a surf anyway! Since then, we’ve purchased a butane heater (in Broken Hill, ha! And learned that this fabulous campsite supplies firewood! And magic sunsets…. From there...

Monthly Archives: July 2016. AOS- All Orange Scarves. July 17, 2016. On Thursday, we picked up a rental car (it’s a Dodge Dart- when we were kids my parents had a green one- the style has been thankfully updated) and headed for Seattle to get my mum’s bestie, Linda Howie, who was flying in from London on Friday to hang with us for 10 days. Her flight was delayed by 4 hours so I got to do some more shopping at Southcenter Mall while Mum booked us into another hotel. And there she was- orange scarf and all!
