A diary and archive. Paintings by Sarah Riseborough unless stated. St Abb's National Reserve. View from my office. Wednesday, 26 May 2010. Painting and w/c sketches from flowers given, last week. I consciously avoided too much detail, though it would be lovely to truly capture a sparkling, white dahlia head. Wednesday, 19 May 2010. Announcing Seahouses Festival Open Art Competition. I have a small catalogue of original seascape and garden paintings available. If anyone would like a copy please email your address to me at sarah.riseborough@btinternet.com. I must make space! The new pictures on the blog are a sample of the abstract paintings, the white and gold being a detail from a later development. The image 'Composition: Squares' is being...

A diary and archive. Paintings by Sarah Riseborough unless stated. St Abb's National Reserve. View from my office. Tuesday, 15 June 2010. Because I've been working with Seahouses Development Trust on Seahouses Festival, I took the opportunity to do a bit of research on the theme of 'migration', this year's festival theme:. These tokens bore the images of saints, were copied, and recopied, the original portrait being subverted to the power of the iconic image and its underlying message of faith. NEW YORK ...

A diary and archive. Paintings by Sarah Riseborough unless stated. St Abb's National Reserve. View from my office. Monday, 26 September 2011. The Reserve is home to flora and fauna specific to its rough and uncultivated grasslands and coastal location. The site is not wilderness and left to its own devices would go back to woodland. It is carefully managed to preserve an environment which is both critical to certain species' survival and no longer common in the UK. Labels: St Abbs Head National Reserve.

I had entertained a piece of work communicating the thoughts and feelings of visitors and workers. How does one go about interacting with visitors who are clearly there to avoid this kind of contact? This residency is not about attracting wholesale, rafts of visitors to a natural theme park. I'm not around to sell the place. It's about appreciation, I thin...NEW Y...

A diary and archive. Paintings by Sarah Riseborough unless stated. St Abb's National Reserve. View from my office. Tuesday, 22 February 2011. Or listening, watching and waiting to see if anything is asked of me. I draw at motifs and effects, come across sensation and the familiar in the same way memory works for me; by process and also spontaneously. The images reach a point of 'finished' and become part of an archive. The memory is living; the archive static order. 22 February 2011 at 15:11. Love the ne...

Tuesday, 5 July 2011. 8216;There is a profound connection between the nothingness from which we originate and the infinite in which we are engulfed.’. Prof Jim Al Kalili. There is nothing here-. Now there is space for-something. Like the end of a ruler. Where there is nothing. There was something here-. In nothing, everything happens. Like the hands of a clock. There is nothing here-.
