Some thoughts while traveling and being in Guatemala. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. To Summit a Volcano. Oh no, we have a hike to do! One more hour of mercy and then the real climbing began. And it continued, for about 3.5 hours. And it was steep. Everyone had their own strategy of surmounting the slope which seemed like the equivalent of a rocky wall. It breaks down a kind of inner structure we have. One can no longer cheat- hide behind the hours spent at the office or at the plant (those hours we protest so loudly, which protect us so well from the pain of being alone).".
