Admiral Mike Mullen says he was able to offer his best military advice to President Barack Obama. The Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman is reluctant to talk about "winning and losing" in Iraq. But he says the conditions are in place for the Baghdad government to successfully take control of the country.

How I spend my Friday nights. I am Going to Shanghai! Today the Board of Directors of my technical society voted to send me to the World Conference for Nondestructive testing in Shanghai. I will only be there for 5 days but I am very excited. Right now I am trying to figure out what subway line goes from the airport to the exhibition center. I've got it partly figured out. Our town and several others in this area had to slash their budgets, cut salaries, etc. So they eliminated the fireworks and July the 4th celebrations from the budget. Maybe next year?
