Wine and Dine from the Ground Up: goat barn in the making

http://vawinegrower.blogspot.com/2010/03/goat-barn-in-making.html

Monday, March 22, 2010. Goat barn in the making. One of the reasons I've been so slow at posting here is that I've been working on our new goat barn in all of my spare time. It's a work in progress. Right now it is a shed row style with two stories. The second story if for hay storage. I plan to add another side on when the budget permits. Trusty Rusty (the old red trailer) makes good scaffolding. We got the roof on over the weekend. Lots to do still! Monday, March 22, 2010. View my complete profile.

I'm a part time farmer, full time agricultural loan officer here with my wife, Danielle, and all our critters in Concord, Virginia. We live on my family farm where we have horses, beef cows, a couple goats, chickens, two dogs, and two barn cats. Enough to make a normal person go completely crazy! View my complete profile. Monday, August 31, 2009. So, I'm a little bummed; hell, I'm a lot bummed. Two weeks I was working through the Chambourcin. Block at the Naked Creek Vineyard cluster thinning. Chambourcin. Is a variety that tends to over crop in fertile soils, and if all the clusters are allowed to hang to maturity, the flavor quality will suffer. Cluster thinning is especially important in this vineyard as we are rehabbing the vines, which are not yet back to optimum vigor. Around July 18 th. Links to this post. I'm a pa...

http://vawinegrower.blogspot.com/2010/03/spring-into-high-gear.html

Monday, March 15, 2010. Spring Into High Gear. Holy crap, Spring is here! I've been so busy I forgot to blog. Most of my extra time has gone into building the new goat barn. I think Danielle has a post dedicated to that going up today, so as not to reinvent the wheel, hop over to her blog. For more on the goat barn raising. We have two goats that are due to freshen in the next week and preparations are being made for the flurry of activity that will follow. I hope I finish before bud break. I'm a part ti...
