https://blog.hongens.nl/guides/ipsec-vpn-using-freebsd
A systems administrator’s diary. IPSec VPN using FreeBSD. Because I couldn’t find any ready-to-go guides on using a IPSec tunnel on FreeBSD, and the online handbook gives unnecessary information*, I decided to share this guide with you, as a kickstart to get you up and running. Then you can refine things afterwards for your specific situation. I took two FreeBSD 6.2 machines, and updated to the latest sources using cvs. Read on here. Add this line to /etc/rc.conf to allow for ip routing:. Spdadd 172....

A systems administrator’s diary. Drop all extended properties in a MSSQL database. February 25, 2010. Sometimes you change columns in a table, and Access starts moaning about the missing column. Probably Access added some extended properties to tables and/or column, and here’s how to drop them. Keep in mind these all start with MS . This script will create a drop statement for all the tables and column. Read the result through carefully, and proceed at your own risk:. Select 'EXEC sp dropextendedproperty.

A systems administrator’s diary. Graphing requests per second out of apache log files. March 19, 2009. I’ve been doing some analysis on some log files I got from a client. Since I have to propose an infrastructure that can support these web applications, I’d like to do some reconnaisance first, and see what the traffic is, and how many requests/sec are actually happening. Are we talking 10 req/s or 1000 req/s? Script that comes with AWStats. F $1 ]; then. Â Â Â echo "Usage: $0 ". Â Â Â exit. Sort -t ' ' ...

A systems administrator’s diary. Computers are my work, and my hobby as well. I work at NetMatch. An internationally operating software company located in Tilburg as well. I’m a systems administrator, I administer systems. Mostly servers, and some local desktops. Me and a colleague manage servers across three or four data centers. I’m looking forward for the final versions. Somewhere along the line I met FreeBSD, and somehow, it was love at first sight. Don’t know if it was Beastie or something...I love ...

A systems administrator’s diary. Protect OWA using a reverse proxy #2. This is a follow up (2 years later) to the ‘ protect owa using a reverse proxy. I ditched apache, and now only use Squid. 2 layers of proxying is sometimes slow (never figured out why), difficult to troubleshoot, and not needed in my case. Instead of a single site with multiple subdirectories, I now use a single SSL binding (on one ip) with a wildcard certificate, and use different hostnames to proxy different applications. A systems administrator’s diary. Monitoring a Windows machine with extended counters. This is the way I monitor all my servers. You might like or you might not, this is the way I do things. Feel free to learn from it what you want, and do things your own way of course. I have come to do it this way after years of trial and error, and these methods seem to work fine. This page explains how to configure things, and the zip file with all the configs and scripts is here: http:/ files.hongens.nl/snmp/. 136141...
