Yarn, Ho!: Introspection
http://northeastyarnho.blogspot.com/2009/04/introspection.html
Sporadic updates of my continuous foray into the world of yarn and needles. Socks are a personal favorite, but there's pretty much no knitting technique I won't try, so bring it on! Tuesday, April 21, 2009. It never ceases to amaze me, as humans, the sheer amount of information we fire off on a weekly, daily, hourly basis. And yet, for all of this, how much do we really say. How much of what we shoot off into electronic space is real communication? Music: Mutemath - Spotlight. Aspiring writer, avid reade...

Sporadic updates of my continuous foray into the world of yarn and needles. Socks are a personal favorite, but there's pretty much no knitting technique I won't try, so bring it on! Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Here's Davy Jones singing 'It's Been Lonesome in the Saddle Since My Horse Died'! You know those times in life when absolutely everything that can go wrong, does? But I have been persevering. Between determination and startitis, some good things have been happening on the needles. I've been wearing ...

Gumboots&Cats&VeganSnacks: December 2010
http://gumbootsandcats.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Sugar Free Spelt Shortbread. If you read yesterday's post than you have already seen the gluten free, sugar free shortbread. Well, I figured I would make a regular shortbread as well! While I do have a wheat sensitivity, I am not bothered by gluten so I thought spelt flour would make for a nice hearty shortbread and I was right! These bad boys are amazing! Sugar Free Spelt Shortbread. 1/2 cup xylitol (ground into powder). 1/4 cup vegetable shortening*. 1 cup brocolli florets.

Yarn, Ho!: Visually uninteresting
http://northeastyarnho.blogspot.com/2009/02/visually-uninteresting.html
Sporadic updates of my continuous foray into the world of yarn and needles. Socks are a personal favorite, but there's pretty much no knitting technique I won't try, so bring it on! Sunday, February 22, 2009. I'm posting now because I just spent a bit of time catching up on blogs via my GoogleReader feeds, and as I read one of Franklin's recent posts. I realized something. Something sort of depressing. I realized that it's been a long time since I last knit something that truly captivated me. I've also b...

Vegan Showdown: Eating During the Storm
http://veganshowdown.blogspot.com/2012/11/eating-during-storm.html
Embracing the challenges of the American vegan lifestyle. Friday, November 2, 2012. Eating During the Storm. Hurricane Sandy came and went in Baltimore. I'm very fortunate. Except for some leaks here and there, and a loss of income, my household was unaffected. It was, and still is pretty chilly here though. 15 oz tomato sauce. 1/2 head roasted cheddar cauliflower. 1/2 head broccoli, chopped. 1 roasted red pepper. Naturally, I also made cookies. I realize now that I began to make good on my promise.

Rights or Liberation | Vegans of Color
https://vegansofcolor.wordpress.com/2008/08/08/rights-or-liberation
Because we don’t have the luxury of being single-issue. Rights or Liberation August 8, 2008. 8212; Royce @ 3:53 am. I have always loved words. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t amazed by the power of words, both written and spoken. I’m big on word meanings and the idea of animal rights hasn’t sat well with me for a while, at least not since I gained an interest in both anarchism and black liberation. But I read about and saw with my own eyes that it didn’t solve all the problems facing. Animal rights...

Vegan Showdown: Curry and Cabbage
http://veganshowdown.blogspot.com/2012/11/curry-and-cabbage.html
Embracing the challenges of the American vegan lifestyle. Thursday, November 15, 2012. The description of the Butternut Squash and Green Beans in a Coconut-Milk Curry. In 5 Spices, 50 Dishes. Suggests using the leftover butternut squash in a raita, which is a lot like a salad or relish, and is meant to be an accompaniment to an entree in keeping with Ayurvedic cooking practices. So I flipped to the appropriate chapter in the book, just to take a peak, and I noticed the Tangy Shredded Cabbage Salad. The a...

Vegan Showdown: Even More 5/50
http://veganshowdown.blogspot.com/2012/11/even-more-550.html
Embracing the challenges of the American vegan lifestyle. Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Is going to derail my Indian cuisine kick. I didn't really mean to start off my cookbook exploration. By focusing so heavily on one book, but I got carried away meal planning last week. Plus, 5 Spices, 50 Dishes. Has proven to be so user-friendly, and has yielded such tremendously delicious results that it's been hard to put it down. In fact, the super quick and easy recipes have been for breakfast most times. Now I hav...
