Bowerbird Blue: March 2013
http://talesfromthebower.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Good for the Soul. My golden ticket, little did I know when purchasing it, that this would quickly become a sell out gig. There were many hopefuls outside the Palace begging for tickets, Melbourne loves Manu Chao. The atmosphere inside the Palace was electric. Today I am sore after dancing like a teenager, I'm feeling more like a mummy - in all senses of the word. No regrets though, it is sooo good for the soul, a night of dancing with friends. Bowerbird Blue: April 2013

Sunday, April 28, 2013. Anzac day and Remembering. We were in Melbourne the day after Anzac Day, and a stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens led us to the Shrine of Remembrance. Was long gone, and there was a stillness and quiet at this huge monument. There was no field of poppies, but red salvias were equally evocative at the base of the shrine, so many names, so much blood spilt. A hedge of rosemary for remembrance. On Thursday I heard an interview on Radio National with Anne Wilkes Tucker. Kirsty @...

Bowerbird Blue: October 2012

Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Actually a little bit of red too. Vampire, Frog Zombie Man (frog was once used for a rainforest party), Robin Hood and "Green Girl". I showed Mr Bowerbird the photos and he laughed wryly, "Oh I hope that one's going on your blog"! Of course it's going on the blog! Checkout how much those kids have grown since Halloween 2010. The Big Bowerbird is getting some good mileage out of that costume. A bit of green and red that year too. Frog Zombie Man stole my children. Taking the t...

Saturday, June 30, 2012. Astro Turf, Art and more of 40. Astro turf, is it wrong? Our children love it, partly because they don't encounter it too often. This is at Fed Square, real grass would struggle to grow here due to the high level of pedestrian traffic, so its probably astro-turf, or concrete. Took myself off on a tangent googling astro turf - check out. Http:/ www.justlivegreener.com/greener-home/306-is-artificial-grass-eco-friendly.html. Real turf, complete with duck poo splodges to dodge,.

Monday, June 17, 2013. Rock Pools, Kelp and Beach Good Times - Wye River. On our first visit to the beach the tide was out and there were rock pools to explore. We found lots of snails and sea anemones but the tide needed to recede a little further to spot sea-stars and crabs. The glassy clear waters of the rock pools can look so clean that they seem empty, until you put your foot in one and realise its filled with water. You can often tell a good coffee by the residue it leaves behind, if there is a cle...

Friday, May 31, 2013. Romancing the 80s, Iron-Ons and Old School. Did you have iron on clothing in the 70s or 80s? Why did this crafting genius ever go out of fashion? There are many more, let no plain windcheater, t-shirt or singlet go unadorned. Thanks Sukie. Bought from here. I have also just purchased some laser printer transfer paper after being inspired by this wonderful creation. With felt, the iron-on possibilities. Image source http:/ alljoinin.blogspot.com.au. Bowerbird Blue: December 2012
http://talesfromthebower.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 17, 2012. Eldorado, Camping Music Festival Bliss. A riveting game of "sticks and scats" whilst we waited for a bus to ferry us in, cheered up the middle Bowerbird playing with rabbit poo. I made the 11 year old promise that she would dance with me at the next Folk Rhythm and Life. I held back from the awesome Dallas Frasca jumping castle. The hottest week of December did leave me. On edge whilst we were away, when we got home I dropped everything and ran to water the garden, only a few c...

Bowerbird Blue: Lucky Thirteen
http://talesfromthebower.blogspot.com/2013/12/lucky-thirteen.html
Friday, December 6, 2013. 2013 where have you gone? Only a few weeks left of this less than auspicious sounding year. 13 must hold me some luck though, as I have much to be glad for since turning 40. I have a new job where I get to share my passion for our environment, and be inspired by those around me. I get to discover new places. And spread the word about what can be achieved with those iconic hands. Not only do I have a great job but -. I hope 2013 was a good year for you. Kirsty @ Bowerbird Blue.
