Frozen Vegan: November 2010
http://www.frozenvegan.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Saturday, November 20, 2010. So we were talking a little about MoFo, and the subject of Canadian cuisine came up. Honestly, it's something I knew very little about. Other than poutine, there wasn't any other thing I could name. He mentioned Tourtiére. Here's what I came up with:. Getting Started: Mashed Potatoes. 3 Medium Potatoes roughly chopped. 2 Whole Cloves Garlic (because Mashed Potatoes without garlic is wrong). 1/4 Cup Plain Soy Milk.

Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Thursday, November 4, 2010. Great Chefs and Cheap Beer. I don't usually cook very complicated recipes. I generally like what I eat to be straight forward, bold, rib-stickin' goodness. Tonight I decided to try something a little different. 1] Thompson, Bradford. "Roast Vegetable Pot Pie." Recipe. Frozen Vegan: Friends Come Over for Appetizers
http://www.frozenvegan.com/2010/11/friends-come-over-for-appetizers.html
Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Saturday, November 6, 2010. Friends Come Over for Appetizers. So with friends coming over in less than two hours, and empty cupboards, what did I manage to get together? A couple of things. For starters, I decided to go with something tried and true, and one of my all-time favorites: spring rolls with (and this is the best part) spicy peanut sauce. I think - or maybe I just hope - I heard half of you saying "Hell, yeah! 1] Grogan, Bryanna....

Frozen Vegan: Continuing Tradition
http://www.frozenvegan.com/2010/11/continuing-tradition.html
Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Sunday, November 7, 2010. A while ago, I decided that I needed to learn how to perfect the most important part of any pizza, thin, crunchy, cracker-like crust. Okay, if you thought I was going to say something different, you should stop reading this blog right now because I don't think you and I can agree on anything ever again. Yeast is not an animal, it's a fungi. Like mushrooms, so argument over. Add more flour to the mixture. Just kee...

Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Monday, June 14, 2010. Okay, I've finally boxed myself into a corner and made it so I have to start a blog. It's not that I don't want to blog, mind you. In fact, I've been meaning. To blog for the better part of five years. So, how did I box myself in, you're (hopefully) asking? Well, a couple of weekends ago, I entered my first ever cooking contest. Though Megan at Down Home Vegan. Want to do. Mow the lawn? Finely chopped flat leaf parsley.

Frozen Vegan: 3, 2, 1... Dammit, Already?!?
http://www.frozenvegan.com/2010/11/3-2-1-dammit-already.html
Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Monday, November 1, 2010. 3, 2, 1. Dammit, Already? So November seems to have snuck up on me. It's not that I don't cook almost every day, it's not that I don't blog (okay, you're right, I don't really blog), it's that I don't cook and then blog about it every day for a month. That's intimidating. That said, it's time to toughen up and get this thing rolling. Well, there's a bit more to this lasagna. For cheese, I used Diaya. And the Wife's r...

Frozen Vegan: An Argument Against Building Your Own Bike
http://www.frozenvegan.com/2010/11/argument-against-building-your-own-bike.html
Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Tuesday, November 16, 2010. An Argument Against Building Your Own Bike. I had this all written up and ready to go, then got distracted by a silly game and completely forgot to click the publish button. After a quick read through and a couple of revisions, here's last night's post. I better not take my bike, there might still be a puddle somewhere in the city. The Wife's review: Given what we had laying around the house, this came out really w...

Frozen Vegan: Light Duty
http://www.frozenvegan.com/2010/11/light-duty.html
Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Monday, November 8, 2010. We're getting home a little bit late this evening, so I apologize in advance for a short post. A friend had us over for dinner this evening, which means I was on light duty this evening. Remember that thing I said a couple of days ago about going with the tried and true when cooking for others? Unfortunately, your dear narrator probably needs to follow his own advice. I decided that since I was doing MoFo. November P...

Frozen Vegan: Busy, Busy Night
http://www.frozenvegan.com/2010/11/busy-busy-night.html
Collected miscellany from a vegan living in the Upper Midwest. Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Busy, Busy Night. Whew, busy night tonight. I decided that I'm going to use this time to learn how to make bread over the next couple of weeks. On top of that, tonight's menu is tempeh stuffed bell peppers. and it's election night, so listening to returns is important. and it's hockey night (yes, there are vegans that enjoy a good hockey game; dozens of us, in fact. Dozens! On to the food. Take that, Sharks! So, thr...
