Britain by Bus: Day 3 – Preview
http://britainbybus.blogspot.com/2009/04/day-3-preview.html
Monday, 20 April 2009. Day 3 – Preview. A later start tomorrow, the first bus isn't until ten to eight. A slightly later finish than normal too, but that's okay because I'm heading home for the night. Lancaster is my old stomping ground, so I'll be pretty familiar from there southwards. I've been to Windermere and Ambleside before, but not on the bus. The 125 and 126 run every ten minutes between Preston and Bolton – so I'll just catch one when I tire of Preston. 0750 departs Carlisle, Bus Station. Moder...

http://britainbybus.blogspot.com/2009/02/rough-plan.html
Saturday, 14 February 2009. I've been working on the route I am going to take to get from one end of Britain to the other using only Stagecoach buses*. Here's a rough plan:. Via Inverness and Aberdeen. Via Dundee, Glenrothes, Glasgow, Ayr and Dumfries. Via Penrith, Keswick, Lancaster, Preston and Bolton. Via Sheffield, Chesterfield, Worksop, Retford, Gainsborough and Lincoln. Via Peterborough, Milton Keynes, Bicester, Oxford, Swindon and Marlborough. Via Basingstoke, Alton, Petersfield and Havant. Britain by Bus: Day Zero – Digest
http://britainbybus.blogspot.com/2009/04/day-zero-digest.html
Saturday, 18 April 2009. Day Zero – Digest. Here's a record of my tweets from Day Zero – I've reversed the order so that it makes more chronological sense on a blog! I haven't really started yet, today's been more of a positioning move. Not a hugely auspicious beginning - I nearly forget to catch my train, and already I've forgotten my sunglasses. 6:24 AM. Suprisingly quiet at the airport today, even though there's a big Virgin jumbo parked at T2. Never flown domestic from T3 before. 6:47 AM. A six day o...

Britain by Bus: Day 3 – Twitter Digest
http://britainbybus.blogspot.com/2009/04/day-3-twitter-digest.html
Tuesday, 21 April 2009. Day 3 – Twitter Digest. We're traversing the north west of England today, through Cumberland and the old county palatine of Lancaster – via the Lake District. If it's a college holiday then we're still on time. If not - we're a little late! Well it's late either way now. Still no sign. I am the only person at the stop. Hmm. 8:04 AM. My contingency plan is to skip Penrith and catch the 0900 service 554 to Keswick. Don't know where the stop is yet. 8:24 AM. Interesting thing about l...

Britain by Bus: Day 2 – Twitter Digest
http://britainbybus.blogspot.com/2009/04/day-2-twitter-digest.html
Monday, 20 April 2009. Day 2 – Twitter Digest. Day 2 dawns, and I've another lengthy day's travel ahead of me. From East Scotland all the way down over the border and into Carlisle. Day 2 - and we're off! Breakfast on the move - the regular commuters seem to have had theirs already. 7:17 AM. Just realised - this nearly new bus started life in Manchester - the MX reg and a sign on the stairs are the give away. 7:24 AM. On X54 to Glenrothes arrive 0925. Nice coach with leather seats. 8:55 AM. For moment th...

Britain by Bus: Day 1 – Preview
http://britainbybus.blogspot.com/2009/04/day-1-preview.html
Friday, 17 April 2009. Day 1 – Preview. A relatively straight forward day in prospect on Sunday: three long legs down the east coast of Scotland. And when I say long, I mean. Ndash; the first leg to Inverness will take over four hours, and the second leg to Aberdeen is almost as long. By comparison, the final leg of the day to Montrose is a wee titchy one lasting just under two hours. In the FA Cup. 0650 departs Thurso, Railway Station. 1103 arrives Inverness, Bus Station. 18 April 2009 at 18:02. A map o...

Britain by Bus: That route in full...
http://britainbybus.blogspot.com/2009/04/that-route-in-full.html
Wednesday, 1 April 2009. That route in full. I daresay that my geographical knowledge of Scotland and Southern England has improved since I started planning this challenge. For those of you who are still struggling to visualise my route, I've made the following map for you. I might not have bothered had I realised earlier that Stagecoach have a new coverage map. On their website. No, of course I would have. Who am I kidding? Or follow me on Twitter. First post - a preamble. I set myself some guidelines.
