January 2015 – On The Outline
https://ontheoutline.wordpress.com/2015/01
Whit’s sister and her family came out over the long weekend to hang out with us in Santa Cruz, and California really showed it stuff. A great house close to the beach. Highly recommended, especially if you have two very active toddlers. Immediately before the submersion. The weekend slowly improved from there. Trying to keep on schedule with meals and naps while simultaneously wanting to spend as much time outside as possible got easier as we settled in. Lighthouse Field State Beach. January 23, 2015.

Ups, downs, questions, and hopes. Thursday, March 27, 2014. What I've Learned About Suburban Homelessness. Today marks two years that I’ve been working specifically with youth who are homeless or are precariously housed. Here are some of the major things I have learned:. 1 Youth homelessness happens for all kinds of reasons which might include:. Parent(s) or Guardian(s) do not have the resources to keep you safe/housed. Mom’s boyfriend doesn't like you. You're turning 18, so you have to go. It’s in...

experience: A Letter to my Conservative Friends -- All 4 of you

Ups, downs, questions, and hopes. Sunday, November 4, 2012. A Letter to my Conservative Friends - All 4 of you. Dear super conservative/religious friends (there are 4 of you I can think of off hand),. The election is in 2 days, and I know you will vote yes to keep the definition of marriage between a woman and a man. If you voted no, it wouldn't affect you. In fact, it wouldn't affect me much either, not yet anyway. I don't anticipate change your "yes vote" to a "no vote," but I want you to hear me out.

experience: Run With Me
http://ashashoffner.blogspot.com/2013/09/run-with-me.html
Ups, downs, questions, and hopes. Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Literally. Run with me. I'm supposed to be running Twin Cities 10 mile race on October 6th, and so far, my training has been minimal. While trying to live a minimalist lifestyle at home (and failing), such an attitude cannot be transferred to my workout regimen (or lack thereof). I used to like to run. I guess I still do, but I'm having a hard time getting into it consistently. I've got to get back into this, ASAP. I know I won't run this...

Ups, downs, questions, and hopes. Monday, September 9, 2013. I Want To Get Away. For someone who almost always has music playing (in the background, my fingers on guitar strings, brushing dust off vinyl records, singing in the shower, the humming of an air conditioner. ) I appreciate and often find myself "needing" those background sounds. Yet. I still desire silence. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I Want To Get Away. Velvet gazebo (madika's blog). View my complete profile.

Ups, downs, questions, and hopes. Saturday, May 26, 2012. Bad Dreams, Good Lessons. Last winter, I had a heart to heart with a friend of mine, in which I told him that I often feel like I'm waiting for something bad to happen, so that I am forced to make positive changes in my life. I of course don't want anything bad to happen, but it just happens to work out that when someone in my life leaves.I go into flight or fight response (? Have you ever had those feelings after someone dies? I have, on occasion.

Ups, downs, questions, and hopes. Friday, March 23, 2012. I walked into a classroom the other day, and there wasn't much going on. I sat down and talked to a few kids, who were listening to music or playing on their phones. What do you want to be when you grow up" I asked, feeling kind of salty for raising such a generic question. I took a deep breath, because I knew I needed to proceed carefully. Okay," I said. "I want you to get online and look up what is the likeliness of that (playing pro ball) a...

Ups, downs, questions, and hopes. Thursday, January 1, 2015. I'm starting my photo project again - not as a new years resolution, but because I want to and today is a good day to start. I don't have any resolutions, but do hope to get some good trail races in this year. January's photo theme is First Impressions, as I'm learning how important and powerful they really are. 2014 had some highs, and definitely had some lows. Looking forward to 2015 and beyond!
