Mrs Jones' Home Thoughts From Home: January 2014
http://mrsjoneshomethoughts.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Mrs Jones' Home Thoughts From Home. Oh, you know, just some stuff. Sunday, 26 January 2014. That's Handy (Part 2). The last pictures I showed you, way back in October last year, were of some life sketches I did at Frensham Pond. In September. I've produced a few things since then so this is the first of a few catch-up posts.). Back on 2 September 2013, a most astonishing book was published - " Heavenly Bodies. And you won't believe how blinging the skeletons are:. I wanted there to be a darker centre beh...

Mrs Jones' Home Thoughts From Home: May 2014
http://mrsjoneshomethoughts.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Mrs Jones' Home Thoughts From Home. Oh, you know, just some stuff. Monday, 5 May 2014. Every year I keep a weather eye out for the return of the Swifts and this morning spotted my first two, swiftly followed (see what I did there? By several more over the course of the day. By this evening there were small gangs of half a dozen screeching in delight around the houses. I love this time of year. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Mrs Jones' Home Thoughts From Home: January 2015
http://mrsjoneshomethoughts.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Mrs Jones' Home Thoughts From Home. Oh, you know, just some stuff. Thursday, 8 January 2015. Welcome to our new feline overlords. So then, we have new cats. We've known them for several years so they weren't strangers, but I suppose I'd better start at the beginning. Prince (first 3 photos)- with a black nose and no tail; Maggie (next 2), sleeping on her head; Puffle (preposterously cute) - May 2009. Maggie and Puffle had different ideas about this. They basically flounced and made themselves voluntarily...

Mrs Jones' Home Thoughts From Home: So, what's been happening since April?
http://mrsjoneshomethoughts.blogspot.com/2015/08/so-whats-been-happening-since-april.html
Mrs Jones' Home Thoughts From Home. Oh, you know, just some stuff. Monday, 3 August 2015. So, what's been happening since April? Here, who has been diligently blogging for.actually, I don't know because I can't find how to go back to her very first post on her blog, but her profile seems to date from 2008, so we'll say that, shall we? 2008 That's like millennia in blogging world. And that's just beyond me. Plus I find I tend to ramble around the point rather than coming straight to it. Plus I've also dis...
From Weeds to Seeds: September 2009

From Weeds to Seeds. The travails of turning a patch of scrubby Surrey countryside into a Garden of Eden. Monday, 28 September 2009. This year I have been weighing and recording every time I picked anything off the allotment with a view to doing a roundup together with a price list showing how much the same quantity would have cost me from a supermarket. Maris Peer Potatoes - 4.141kg x £0.86/kg = £3.56. Climbing French Beans - 11.56kg x £5.96/kg = £68.91 (! This all totals £132.48. A not insignificant su...
From Weeds to Seeds: March 2012

From Weeds to Seeds. The travails of turning a patch of scrubby Surrey countryside into a Garden of Eden. Saturday, 31 March 2012. My final post on this blog. It was coming. Slowly, over the years, it was becoming more of a burden than something to look forward to. I was finding myself making excuses to avoid it rather than planning my day so that more time could be spent on it. And now, of course, the time that I would be spending down there I'm choosing to use to go running instead. My 'other' blog - M...
From Weeds to Seeds: Cage Fighting
http://fromweedstoseeds.blogspot.com/2010/05/cage-fighting.html
From Weeds to Seeds. The travails of turning a patch of scrubby Surrey countryside into a Garden of Eden. Sunday, 16 May 2010. I've finally started putting some time in down the allotment but I really need to do more. I've had a spate of illness lately (bad cold, followed by a dodgy back) which has made the grime and toil of endless weeding somewhat less than enticing, so I'm really behind. However, this has actually played to my advantage (for once! I am, though, very grateful. Last autumn I planted a V...
From Weeds to Seeds: "Weeds: How Vagabond Plants Gatecrashed Civilisation and Changed the Way We think About Nature" by Richard Mabey
http://fromweedstoseeds.blogspot.com/2010/10/weeds-how-vagabond-plants-gatecrashed.html
From Weeds to Seeds. The travails of turning a patch of scrubby Surrey countryside into a Garden of Eden. Thursday, 28 October 2010. Weeds: How Vagabond Plants Gatecrashed Civilisation and Changed the Way We think About Nature" by Richard Mabey. Etc, etc." the subtext, of course, being that validation from complete strangers is the best kind - they're not doing it just to be nice, unlike your relatives (who have. To do it), therefore it has more value (go on - I challenge you to disagree.). The subject o...

From Weeds to Seeds. The travails of turning a patch of scrubby Surrey countryside into a Garden of Eden. Wednesday, 24 March 2010. Oh, look, I know I'm slack at doing updates here but, you know, that's the way I roll sometimes, homies. I have, actually. Managed to, like, do a few hours down the allotment over the last few days, yeah? Flicks hair in desultory manner* so you can stop getting all judgey on me 'cos stuff is being done although painfully slowly. That's the only thing I've planted out so far,...

Venerable Aero - '29 Ford "A"dventures
Spring Tune Up in Marysville. Two weekends ago was the Moon on A annual spring tune up. "Moon on A" is the name of the Snohomish County Model A Club. Every year in April the club hosts a potluck in Marysville at the house of a member who has a garage. This gives everyone a chance to get their car up on a lift and check to make sure everything is in top shape for the driving season. I'd wanted a Model A for a long time. Why? They are reasonably inexpensive. It obviously varies by region, but I would t...

Sunday, July 22, 2012. This weekend, I made earrings and a pin, both with the intent to practice rivets. I love making rivets, but I'm not particularly good at them. I'm hoping that if I spend the rest of the year practicing the cold connections I've been taught, my metalsmithing will improve. This pin is a "ten-footer". If I let anyone get within ten feet of it, they'll see the flaws. Saturday, March 3, 2012. Recent efforts and class activities. A ring idea that didn't pan out. Getting the sprues set up.
