This 'n' That Blog: The Coldest Winter in the West of Ireland
http://angelasburke.blogspot.com/2009/12/coldest-winter-in-west-of-ireland.html
The Coldest Winter in the West of Ireland. Or so it seems. Nobody here can remember another winter with so much frost and ice for such a long time. Old people couldn't leave their houses for fear of having an accident and even younger people had a difficult time getting about. There were lots of accidents on the roads and how many people slipped and injured themselves is anybody's guess. I myself fell twice on the ice and I know of an old man who died after slipping and falling at Christmas. I was lucky ...

This 'n' That Blog: It's been a while...
http://angelasburke.blogspot.com/2012/10/its-been-while.html
It's been a while. Yes, it's true, I haven't been blogging in a long time. The reason: I moved from Ireland to the UK in April 2012 and life has taken its own course. I haven't really had much time to blog but will rectify this from now on. I've been living in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, UK since May this year and I love it! They chat while their dogs are playing. As my husband is still living and working in Ireland, I feel so fortunate that I've met so many friendly dog owners here in TW. I've made some ...

This 'n' That Blog: Muhammed Ali looking for his roots in Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland
http://angelasburke.blogspot.com/2009/09/muhammed-ali-looking-for-his-roots-in.html
Muhammed Ali looking for his roots in Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland. Yes, Muhammad Ali was in Ennis yesterday and I missed this once in a lifetime chance to see "The Greatest". He was a sporting hero and famous boxer, then called Cassius Clay, when I was a child in the 1960, and he's still a name that most people are familiar with. He visited the Turnpike in Ennis for the first time in his life to look for his Irish roots. Mind you, to catch a glance of him would've been rather difficult as ther. Global Warm...

This 'n' That Blog: Getting Fired from your Job - Should you Laugh or should you Cry?
http://angelasburke.blogspot.com/2012/11/getting-fired-from-your-job-should-you.html
Getting Fired from your Job - Should you Laugh or should you Cry? How many of us have been fired from a job and how many of us are still wondering why it happened? And were you upset? Did it seem like the end of the world to you or at least the end of your part of the world? I recently went through this experience in a job that I had been so much looking forward to doing and that I had made many sacrifices for. I was fired unexpectedly with no warning whatsoever. Yes, I have to say that she won't ever be...

This 'n' That Blog: Climbing to the top of Mullaghmore in the Burren
http://angelasburke.blogspot.com/2009/09/climbing-to-top-of-mullaghmore-in.html
Climbing to the top of Mullaghmore in the Burren. Yes, I was in the Burren again. Those of you who have read my previous post on the Burren will know what I'm talking about. Well, as I've mentioned on various occasions, we had no summer again in the West of Ireland for the third year running. For the last 3 months, from the beginning of June to the beginning of September we had rain every day. Not necessarily for the whole day, but we had some. Rain every day. Very frustrating! Not so today. There wa...

This 'n' That Blog: Does this make me a Mama gamer?
http://angelasburke.blogspot.com/2010/01/does-this-make-me-mama-gamer.html
Does this make me a Mama gamer? This is a continuation of yesterday's post with a link to my daughter's blog. As mentioned before, I still enjoy computer games and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Didn't I even read somewhere that gaming is good for you as a stress busting pastime? As my daughter mentioned in her blog, I started playing games when I purchased a Sega Mega Drive in the early 90s. No, tell a lie, the first computer game I ever played was a demo version of Prince of Persia. In 1989 or 1990.

This 'n' That Blog: Do you believe in Reincarnation?
http://angelasburke.blogspot.com/2009/10/do-you-believe-in-reincarnation.html
Do you believe in Reincarnation? No, don't worry, this is not going to be a philosophical post about reincarnation but rather an account of a strange thing that's happened here:. For the last month or so, I've been waking up every morning to the sound of .hammering. That's what I thought it was to start with. But the only person who would use a hammer in our house would be my husband, so when he's lying next to me in bed, he can hardly be doing DIY work at the same time. So I investigated the noise.
