New Zealand Links: May 2013
http://nz-links.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 27, 2013. I am sorry about the long absence. This doesnt mean that I am in hibernation, far from it. There is plenty to write about, but not the spare time to sit down long enough to contemplate a blog post. These are the things that get in the way:. Family - coming to stay, visiting them, baby sitting, reading to little ones, and hosting my delightful 'Auntie 94' who came to stay for a week. Which I have wanted for a long time. Kiwifruit - picking starts tomorrow. Links to this post. Some of...

They do like those acorns. The fenced in area belongs to the goat family but I think in winter the turkeys find some leftovers. These pictures are all of my friends the Troutfarm Eagles. They are neighbors and live just over the hill. Monday, February 23, 2015. Sunday, February 22, 2015. He clears the fog from his brain, rolls ...

Troutbirder: The Nature Loving Life. Click on Mark Twain to jump to Troutbirders book review blog. Thursday, April 23, 2015. Alaska Diary: Homer - Part XII. Day 18: Tuesday, Jun 27, 2000. Heading toward our destination southwest across the Kenai Peninsula we crossed the Russian River, where there are a number of giant National Forest Campgrounds with campsites all full and with people lined shoulder to shoulder along the river catching salmon. Not my idea of camping/flyfishing. So we move on. Later we he...

Mrs T and I are not the “shop till you drop” types so on that infamous exhibition of mass American consumerism known as “Black Friday” we chose to join some Spring Valley friends for a bus trip to the famous Guthrie theater in Minneapolis. Called "a 21st century dream factory" by Time. The design of the new Guthrie was influenced by three key factors.

Instead of repeating my recent whining about eblogs complications I got a fun surprise a few day ago with an interesting comment on my newly reopened and updated Troutbirder II blog. I reposted and updated a post from years ago on a trip we took to France focusing on a visit to the D-Day invasion beaches in Normandy. Here is just a part of it…. La France est championne :. On our return trip to the "lower forty-eight" we retrace some ground seeing even more wildlife. Then we take a new route which bring us to Jasper National Park and Lake Louise in Canada. New Zealand Links: Visit to a pottery in Bahrain
http://nz-links.blogspot.com/2014/03/visit-to-pottery-in-bahrain.html
Monday, March 17, 2014. Visit to a pottery in Bahrain. While in Bahrain we visited the A'ali pottery in Manama. They make these distinctive style of pots which are very popular here. People often have them in their courtyards as decoration or to house a lamp. The header photo shows a selection of sizes. What a shame they were too big for my suitcase! Wee Three and I have just begun pottery classes this week, so it will be fun to show her these pictures. March 19, 2014 at 12:54 AM. May 8, 2014 at 9:46 PM.

New Zealand Links: The Shaky Isles
http://nz-links.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-shaky-isles_17.html
Saturday, August 17, 2013. New Zealand is living up to its name of the Shaky Isles with 48 hours of earthquakes jolting the Marlborough/ Wellington area, the largest was 6.6. People near the epicentre at the small town of Seddon have had damage to houses, roads etc. Wellington has also sustained some damage which seems to be mostly in the CBD area, broken glass etc. The 'kiwi' spirit came to the fore with many people offering rides home to stranded commuters after all trains were halted. Passing motorist...

New Zealand Links: Bahrain and Turkey
http://nz-links.blogspot.com/2014/03/bahrain-and-turkey.html
Tuesday, March 4, 2014. We have been away from home for over a month now. Three weeks in Bahrain and another nearly two weeks touring Turkey. What a lot we have seen and done. Where do I start! We feel quite at home in Bahrain now having spent seven weeks there this time last year. This time we just slotted right into life there, an expat lifestyle I have to say. Although unlike some expats our daughter loves shopping and generally poking around in the souks. And eating in traditional places. Hope you en...
