Monday, June 11, 2007. When the mountain says "Back off". To a lot of people mountains are just a mass of rock and ice. I sorta feel that it has a soul of it's own. Sometimes the voice of the mountain will tell you to back off! I have previously realised this when everything was failing on my last and first alpine route. Poor conditioning, inexperience with gear, and heavy loads were just a few causes that pushed my psychological state to it's ultimate. It's a good think that I backed off.

Can happen in the mountains or it can happen while just sitting and driving in your car on the road. However, in the mountains death will turn your soul cold once you see your partner's body rolling right past you. You are going: Why am I the only one alive? I cannot rationalize this idea.
