http://www.assortednotions.com/2011/06/more-comfy-sleep-set-pjs.html
Monday, June 6, 2011. More comfy sleep set PJs. I am having too much fun making PJs for L. Here's another set of the Stitch Magazine Comfy Sleep Set PJs. That I first showed you in my previous post. The dark pink fabric is from an old t-shirt I was about to donate and the other fabrics and ribbing are from the stash. L is just starting to stand on her own and walk, so here she is showing off her new skill. Photo from www.green-cotton.dk. Labels: Comfy Sleep Set PJs. Mon Jun 06, 10:10:00 PM. Completed UFO...

Assorted Notions: Sewing swimwear - it's not as hard as you think!
http://www.assortednotions.com/2011/08/sewing-swimwear-its-not-as-hard-as-you.html
Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Sewing swimwear - it's not as hard as you think! I am waaaay behind in getting my projects onto this blog! In late June, we flew to the East Coast for a weeklong vacation in Nantucket. Meeting quite a few members of Tim's family there. It was my first time there and I absolutely loved it! Not only because it was our first taste of Summer 2011, but the island is just so picturesque and lovely. She did great during the whole trip, but naps? She talks about needles, stitch types, e...

Assorted Notions: Tutorial: Nursing alteration for t-shirt sewing pattern
http://www.assortednotions.com/2011/08/tutorial-nursing-alteration-for-t-shirt.html
Thursday, August 4, 2011. Tutorial: Nursing alteration for t-shirt sewing pattern. Can you stand another post in which I mention breastfeeding? Since this week is World Breastfeeding Week. I thought it would be a perfect time to show you my absolute favorite (and one of the very few) nursing tops that I made, and how you can make your own! About a year ago, my local BurdaStyle Sewing Club had a sew-along in which we all used the BurdaStyle Lydia t-shirt pattern. 3 Stitch the 2 fronts together at the neck...

Sew Orange: March 2010
http://seworange.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 14, 2010. Jalie 2682 - take 3. Quick, easy to put together, interesting construction for the front, looks fabulous on everyone I've seen it on. My only complaint is the number of back pieces - I'm just not quite sure why it needs so many, so I got rid of them on the last try. Not to mention a time-saver. Here is the front:. Here is the back. I could definitely use a swayback. I finally broke down and bought some Jalie patterns - from their 4 for the price of 3 sale (I think it's an ongoing ...

Sew Orange: January 2010
http://seworange.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 17, 2010. A Plus A-Line Skirt. I've never used a pattern to make a skirt before, so I'm not sure why I decided it was a good idea to use one that I had to print out 51 pages for! It's available on Burdastyle here. Not my best inside work, but will do:. Here's the zipper on the inside. I usually machine sew not slip stitch as recommended. It works except is a little wonky at the bottom. Somehow the yoke seams line up better on the zipper side than the right side! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Assorted Notions: Bunny rabbit toddler Halloween costume
http://www.assortednotions.com/2011/12/bunny-rabbit-toddler-halloween-costume.html
Monday, December 5, 2011. Bunny rabbit toddler Halloween costume. Hi again. Oh, didn't I tell you I'm going for the "Least Updated Blog of 2011" award? I think I have a pretty good chance of winning that one. Unfortunately I've got no big news or juicy gossip to excuse my absence. My sewing machine has been gathering dust save for a few projects here and there. Warm enough for wearing outside, and able to wear layers underneath. Minimal fuss to put on a toddler. Can be assembled using stash fabrics.

Assorted Notions: Italy trip - part 3 - sewing stuff
http://www.assortednotions.com/2009/09/italy-trip-part-3-sewing-stuff.html
Thursday, September 17, 2009. Italy trip - part 3 - sewing stuff. Of course I couldn't visit Italy without checking out at least one fabric store. A Google search led me to a NY Times article on Bassetti Tessuti. Said to be Rome's largest fabric store. So that was my pick. Inside, the store is huge. I think there are 7 different rooms, divided mostly by weave or fiber type. Oh, the bolts and bolts stacked up to the ceiling of fine Italian shirtings and suitings would make any seamstress swoon! I picked u...

Assorted Notions: Stitch Magazine comfy sleep set
http://www.assortednotions.com/2011/05/stitch-magazine-comfy-sleep-set.html
Sunday, May 22, 2011. Stitch Magazine comfy sleep set. During a recent gathering with my local BurdaStyle sewing group, I learned of a website called Sew Daily. From the Interweave group that publishes Stitch magazine. The site has quite a few free pattern downloads. I don't have the issue but decided to give them a try anyway. Designed by Bonnie Ferguson. You can see that there is ribbing around the waist as well. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the size of the seam allowance (which I assumed...

Assorted Notions: Late again... BWOF Project of the Month: July
http://www.assortednotions.com/2008/08/late-again-bwof-project-of-month-july.html
Sunday, August 10, 2008. Late again. BWOF Project of the Month: July. Once again my monthly Burda mag project is a couple weeks tardy. I know I won't be able to get to the August issue until September, but after that I should be able to get back on track again. (I'll have far fewer distractions once the dreary fall weather arrives, plus I love. Soft cotton voile that I got at Michael Levine in LA this spring for the insanely cheap price of $3/yard. Here's a close-up of the pleats at the sleeve hems.
