Guadeloupe to Les Saintes. The bay we slept in.forgot the name already. The morning leaving Guadeloupe and setting sail for Les Saintes. It was dead calm and beautiful out! First time experiencing what I thought would be "sailing". Looked like a lake out there! Now that's what I'm talking about! Sure no wind for sailing, but imagine how many books you could read or the sleep you could catch up on! A very clean and pretty island. Lots of pictures taken! We sailed from Nevis to Montserrat. We left at the same time someone else we knew was leaving and were quite pleased with ourselves when Varuna took off and they grew smaller and smaller behind us. Who knew she'd be such a fast (relative term for sure) boat! It was rough out there with 20-25 knot winds and 6 foot seas, but the boat handled well. Ile Fourchue to St. Kitts and Nevis. After a few days in Ile Fourchue, we sailed to St. Kitts. We had great sailing weather, 16-18 knots with 3-4 foot seas. I was much less sea sick this time! The boat sails a little better than we do so far. A little too good for my rookie self, she loves to heel over, bury the rail, and take off! We sailed right past St. Eustatius (Statia) and waved! On April 30th Mariana and I made our way to Philipsburg for the 2014 Carnival parade. (We actually set out to do some shopping but since it was Carnival everything was closed. We had no complaints.).
