The event was held this past month at the Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum in Decorah, IA. The figure was carved from a block of 4 X 6 basswood, and it earned the three points needed for me to become a winner of a Gold Medal. The original patent model for...

Exploring the Norwegian immigrant experience through the letters of Sigrid Gjeldaker Lillehaugen and her family. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. Life and Death, Inextricable. Many of us try to ignore this fact - until we can't. Links to this post. Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Images of Home, 1893. October 24, 1893.

Exploring the Norwegian immigrant experience through the letters of Sigrid Gjeldaker Lillehaugen and her family. Saturday, February 6, 2010. Hope, Blizzards, and Christmas. Christmas blizzards are preordained in North Dakota. Travel plans must include a one- to two-day window on either end to accommodate blocked roads, cancelled flights, whiteouts. Then, POW.
