The EA-18G replaced the Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowlers in service starting in 2009. CVW-9's Growler Squadron is VAQ-133. Homeported on NAS Whidbey Island, WA, which transitioned in 2013. Monday, June 29, 2015. USNA Promotes, Bids Farewell to 85th Commandant of Midshipmen. The US. Naval Academy held an end of tour and promotion ceremony for Rear Adm. Bill Byrne in Dahlgren Hall June 29. Prior to the promotion ceremony, Marine Corps Col.
