Wheels, tryes and spokes. The picture shows my template board for making my own wheels and spokes. I have a pattern of the layout of the spokes; I find that most wheels of this era used 40 spokes. The 250cc Moto Guzzi wheels have 36 spokes each. The materials I use are Plasticard sheets of thickness from .010 to .040 and plastic rodding from .010 to .87 . These materials are augmented by odd pieces of plastic, transparent packaging, wood (balsa), metal, wire etc. Most wheels of this era used 40 spokes.

I have retained this account of building the Porcupine and am considering a 1/9th scale model of a 1925 DOT Racer with a Jap engine. I started scratch building this in April 2011 after having visited Sammy Miller's for the intricate details and aim to finish it for the Bristol Classic Motorcyle Show at the Bath and West showground in Shepton Mallet in 2012. I have now remade my front wheel 2.5 times and my rear wheel twice and they are now satisfactory! I am looking towards completion within a month.
