Tuesday, July 17, 2007. In 1916 Jans and i were happy we could announce the birth of a son, who was named after me: Christiaan Jacobus. this photo was made about a year later, July 1, 1917. I was born in Enschede, in the eastern part of the Netherlands, called Twenthe, close to where my granddaughter and great grandson are still living. I was a rather good pupil and in 1887 a won a prize: a book called Verpoozingen. with nicely folded and glued inside a document 'oorkonde' that said so. Posted by vfm4 at 5:30 PM. In the early 1890's we moved back to the Netherlands. in 1894 my father died, age 40, far too young. I fell in love with Jane Thomasson, we married in may 1903, and had two children, a girl, Hermanna (Manna) and a boy Gezinus Johannes (Jo). Jane died in 1906 at the very young age of 23.
