The highlight of Cairns so far has to be the ride we took in a hot air balloon a couple of days ago. For some reason these boys can only. Get off the ground at the crack of dawn, so it was a 4am start for us, but well worth the lack of sleep for an amazing experience (unlike getting up at a similar time to watch the World Cup over here). All-in-all a very strange experience.

For those of you not in the know, this part of Australia only has two seasons, wet and dry. All I can say is if this is the 'dry' then I'd hate to be here when it's wet!

As you’ll know Sydney is famous for staging a huge fireworks display over the harbor on New Years Eve, which we were lucky enough to take in. Unfortunately, everyone in Sydney also had the same idea so we had to. Get to our spot 6hrs before the display started. The hours of waiting just flew by, but the display was out of the world and well worth the wait. Vic & Ryan.

Luckily for us, some nice people had built some concrete bunkers and for some unknown reason these now have various holes in them, making for some nice little bouldering problems. We're far too hardy (or foolish) to let a forecast of snow put us off camping so we set off for Turner Hall Farm Campsite. Got pitched in a relatively sheltered spot after only a minor mishap getting the car stuck in the mud.
