I'm running a marathon. So I guess I'm really doing this…. Bring on the fall! I’m halfway through the marathon training program, and it felt great to get out and run again after a couple days of rest. I was so happy when I stepped outside and felt the slightest chill in the air. It’s about time! I so hope we’ve seen the last of the horrible heat and humidity that has plagued the area all summer. Miles this week: 4.25. Miles this year: 599.75 (seriously? Days until the marathon: 60. Where’s my medal?

Today was a cross-training day, so we took that to heart as we biked the 8-mile loop around the island. Twice. The weather was amazing once again, the scenery was absolutely beautiful, and I probably would have gone around one more time if my quads had allowed it. I didn’t want to get off the bike! I'm running a marathon. So I guess I'm really doing this…. I got better as I progressed, though, and I felt better on miles 5 and 6 than I did on miles 1 and 2. I don’t know if it was the weather or what I’d eaten during the day, or the new electrolyte drink I was trying, or the fact that I was trying to beat the sunset, or something else, but I ended so well.
