The proprietor was concerned that we were going with out having breakfast, so he made us each a coffee and brought them out for us to have while we were organizing our bikes on the footpath – very nice man! Sent a text to John L, we spent a couple of very enjoyable nights with Jhn and his wife Jen in Amboise a few years ago.

For two weeks in August 2009 John, Des and Ken tested their legs and their wallets from Saint Nazaire to Sancerre. While Julie, Jane and Alice enjoyed the delights of Paris and rural France. Old man bike mountains. October 5, 2015. I wanna be where the bands are. Continuing on from the previous post the second standout moment was climbing up the Passo Gavia. Again a climb where the landscape was desolate and remote, framed by glacial lakes, snow, overcast skies and sleet. Despite taking it from the ‘easier’ northern side, the Gavia is a climb to be reckoned with. Rising 1,300m through 20km of narrow and uneven roads, it tops out at 2,652m. Into those hills we ride. Up and up we ride.
