Here's my little collection of travel apps and Paris-specific apps (all iPhone because that's what I have! Paris's public transit system app: RATP for iPhone. Weather in Paris: Météo Paris. Maps and directions: Pocket Earth. 299 but there is a "Lite" version that's free). Two choices for texting via wifi: WhatsApp. Another good transit app: ViaNavigo.
