November 19, 2013. Alicia Bien writes a book about wine that is interesting, didactic, and funny! Added to the wine must during fermentation, giving the wine a how do I say this nicely? Swirling, I said. It looks so snobby. Can’t we just drink the wine? This is a perfect little book for anyone who loves wine and sh...

Ramblings: A month on
http://mopsa.blogspot.com/2010/11/month-on.html
Life in Devon: murblings on farming, food, animals, art, books, politics and stuff. Saturday, 6 November 2010. It's been a month since we buried Mopsa. In the orchard and I can't believe how much I miss her. I'm a pretty hard-hearted character, unsentimental on the whole, dealing plainly with life and death as you do, on a farm. Working every hour of daylight to reap a harvest barely adequate for your own needs, literally breaking your back to support a family, it's not surprising that subsistence farmers crave a less knife-edge existence. But why do so many people have such a strong desire to get back to the land? Is there some sort of as yet unfound rural gene? And Janet Street Porter. I don't think so.
