Thursday, August 9, 2012. NOT Loving Cell Phone Companies. This may seem like an odd topic for a supposed environmentally conscious blog, but bear with me as I will find a way, perhaps weakly, to link it up. In the meantime I am frustrated and so will proceed to rant, possibly exaggerate, and make some ridiculous statements. Perhaps you will find this amusing, perhaps not, but I know that I will feel better when I am finished. So now I have authority to deal with my own phone. Yipee! Apparently there is ...

A Novice Ecologist: February 2013
http://noviceecologist.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 4, 2013. Battle of the Clothesline. I started this post many months ago and was inspired to finish when I looked out the window at my clothesline shivering in the winter wind, and dripping water from the accompanying rain. I am dreaming of warmer weather and determined to renew my outdoor drying efforts when the time comes. There's only one minor problem. Does anyone else have a restricted list for their clothesline? I am looking forward to the warm days of summer for many reasons. B...

A Leader's Checklist for Expediting Controversial Projects. 1 As early as possible discredit opponents of the project by labelling them radicals. Here is one example for your reference: CBC News: Radicals working against oilsands. 4 While citizens are distracted by ongoing hearings begin dismantling barriers to the project. This may include reducing environmental standards, if necessary. The industry partner...5 As ...

A Novice Ecologist: October 2012
http://noviceecologist.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Why I finally switched to organic milk. Months after writing my Factory Farming: Dairy. My viewpoint was changed about a month ago after I watched a documentary called Genetic Roulette. May not change your mind. But it should give you some things to consider. Links to this post. Thursday, October 11, 2012. The kids and I took our 6 month old puppy, Ryder, for a walk near Beaver Lake. Once I had the name I went to the E-Fauna BC Atlas page. To learn a little more about it.

A Novice Ecologist: Factory Farming: Chickens
http://noviceecologist.blogspot.com/2011/08/factory-farming-chickens.html
Tuesday, August 30, 2011. As mentioned in my post "Factory Farming: Environmental Impact". I want to share some information I learned about the treatment of animals in the farming industry. Rather than throwing it out in one long post I have decided to break it up and cover the animals in separate groups. So for this post I will talk about chickens, both egg laying, and those raised for meat. And also the chooseveg.ca. Website include the following:. Battery cages in Guelph, Ontario. After reading the ab...

http://noviceecologist.blogspot.com/2011/05/call-me-crazy-but-i-like-bus.html
Sunday, May 15, 2011. Call me crazy, but I like the bus. In a previous post. I mentioned that I was planning on purchasing a bus pass for the month of April. I followed through with my plan and the kids and I rode the bus to and from school almost every day. Overall it was a positive experience and I bought another one for the month of May. Me: "Have you brushed your teeth yet? Kids: "No" or "I have, but he/she hasn't.". Me: "Come on guys we're running out of time.". Me: "Do you have your shoes on yet?

A Novice Ecologist: Baking Soda kills Moss
http://noviceecologist.blogspot.com/2011/04/baking-soda-kills-moss.html
Thursday, April 28, 2011. Baking Soda kills Moss. I finally bought one large box of baking soda about a year and a half ago and got out on the roof of the garage. The two sentence tip really did not elaborate on how you used it: Must the surface be dry? Should you dilute it with water? That briefly describes the process of how baking soda is made. May 1, 2011 at 11:19 PM. I had no idea. Might just have to give that a try. Thanks. May 3, 2011 at 8:18 PM. August 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Cool Im not very knowle...
