Botab's new home: botabblog.wordpress.com. Monday, 28 May 2012. Huay Mai Teng . for a Change! Huay Mai Teng Reservoir, Ratchaburi Province. I managed to spend some time in each of Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Huay Mai Teng Reservoir this weekend. The undoubted highlight for me was seeing a pair of Yellow-eyed Babblers. On Sunday. I was fearful that human disruption might have impacted on this bird's continued presence at the site. No or not yet. Huay Mai Teng Reservoir, Ratchaburi Province. Late Satu...

Tuesday, October 2, 2012. The Local Gypsy Girl. Links to this post. We used to enjoy dining at SmoQe BBQ. In Aptos, until they lost their lease or something.I really don't know the entire story, but they are missed. I believe they strictly cater now? The building is now Sid's Smokehouse,. And I gave them a second. I felt like I was almost sitting at Famous Dave's. Or some other loud drinking establishment. I kept asking myself .are they running a bar or an eating establishment? VietOdonata: Some goodies in and around Xuân Son
http://vietodonata.blogspot.com/2015/07/some-goodies-in-and-around-xuan-son.html
CLOSE-UP ON DRAGONFLIES AND DAMSELFLIES FROM VIETNAM. Some goodies in and around Xuân Son. Fast-flowing stream with boulders, running through largely untouched forest, Xuân Son. My first 2 days trip of the season: Xuân Son National Park (140 km north-west from Hanoi). As the weather was cloudy, thus not optimal for. Dragonflies, I chose to focuse mainly on. The open aspect streams and rivers around the park. Other notable species were Macromia cuprincincta. And the recently described. In the photo below.

CLOSE-UP ON DRAGONFLIES AND DAMSELFLIES FROM VIETNAM. Recent wanderings along Tam Dao foothills. Flock of Pantala flavescens. In front of Tam Dao and its three characteristics pics. I know I've been neglecting this blog lately. But the truth is, I've been very busy! I’m back in the field now, when the sun shines, and hope to make up for lost time a bit. Below are some of my best photos from recent trips. In May and June along the foothills of Tam Dao (Tây Thiên and Mê Linh) and a bit of blurb. In a recen...

CLOSE-UP ON DRAGONFLIES AND DAMSELFLIES FROM VIETNAM. Zygonyx iris Selys, 1869. I spotted many times this large libellulid along swift rocky streams, including those in open and agricultural land, in lowland and montane. The adult males hawk over a limited beat over rivers, generally over a rapid or below a waterfall. But they almost never land! And when they finally perch, they do not tolerate close approach…. Tips of wings enfumed. Head : frons dark metallic blue. A female ovipositing by dipping her ab...

CLOSE-UP ON DRAGONFLIES AND DAMSELFLIES FROM VIETNAM. A trip To Xuân Son National Park. Xuân Son National Park is the southeastern most extension of the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range. Only three peaks rise more than 1000 m a.s.l. Xuân Son National Park (130 km northwest from Hanoi, in Phu Tho Province) is a great place with its wide variety of clear streams flowing through untouched karst forest, offering superb Odonata watching. I finally kicked my lazy butt into action! Species with metallic green abdo...
