View from the Bed - an NHS patient blog

This is an NHS patient blog. I'm a journalist living in the North of England and I'm an NHS patient. I love the NHS but like an eccentric, rather irritating relative, it can drive me crazy and sometimes behave in a way I find really quite offensive.

View from the Bed. View from the Bed. NHS policies and politics. A visit from St NHS. December 19, 2014. 8216;Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the ward,. Not a patient was sleeping, just one who snored,. The charts were hung on the bed end with care,. In the hope a consultant soon would be there,. We shivered cold under thin blankets in bed. While visions of warm toast danced in our head. One overworked nurse and a health care assistant. I lay in bed wondering if sleep would arrive.

I love grammar, but I don’t love the SATs. Apr 19, 2016. Follow my blog with Bloglovin. First up, a confession: I’m a total grammar nerd. Semi colons; I get super-irritated when I see one misused. Grammar, as they say, is the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you’re shit. But this is not the way to achieve that particular utopia. This is...

Written on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 3:15 pm. During a trip to Scotland, I was invited to spend the weekend with friends on a lighthouse island. This was my first experience wearing “wellies” and I loved the freedom of tromping around the island, rain or shine, walking anywhere, through anything!
