The View from the Pew: Sticking with my view from the pew
http://laura-viewfromthepew.blogspot.com/2010/09/sticking-with-my-view-from-pew.html
The View from the Pew. Thursday, September 2, 2010. Sticking with my view from the pew. No, thank you. . Actually, no, I'm really not. But thank you anyway. These are my new responses to the question, "Laura! When are you going to seminary? Honestly, I have wrestled, analyzed, discerned, prayed, and tried every which way to make myself fit into a box that really and truly looked like it had my name on it. . Do you have any idea how liberating it is to recognize that it really is NOT a call? September 3, ...

LiturgyGeek: August 2010
http://liturgygeek.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
A blog about liturgy, faith, snark, beagles, and whatever strikes my fancy. Hopefully mostly liturgy. Friday, August 13, 2010. Dear friends, I am off to Costa Rica for the next month, living with a host family and learning Spanish. I am only slightly terrified, as I know about 40 words in Spanish and won't know anyone in this program. And my darling Backbencher and I will be apart for the whole month. If you live in the area, please ply him with food and drinks in my absence. Wednesday, August 04, 2010.

A blog about liturgy, faith, snark, beagles, and whatever strikes my fancy. Hopefully mostly liturgy. Monday, January 31, 2011. Stories Told and Untold. I listened to this woman share her anger and frustration. I listened as she shared sorrowful family history – a few generations back – that helped to form her pro-choice convictions to this day. In the midst of my anger and frustration, I began to think. I wondered, Was there room in this worship service for these women? And if not, why not? How many peo...

My Balcony 70: October 2010
http://mybalcony70.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 11, 2010. I don't like repetition, I am not an orderly soul, and yet I realize that there are many daily tasks that are required and necessary, and are definitely repetitious. Actually, now I remember, I was cleaning the kitchen after supper and sputtering about the fact that so much of what happened every day was repeated over and over again. Links to this post. Monday, October 4, 2010. I am standing at the kitchen counter waiting. I am doing it because every day I say. Today I will Blog".

My Balcony 70: MorningLight
http://mybalcony70.blogspot.com/2012/03/morninglight.html
Tuesday, March 13, 2012. I treasure time for reflection, but it is rarely available. I realize however much I may claim otherwise, it is mainly because I don't guard the opportunities offered me. I have tried to understand why this is. The pull of the world around always seems to attract my attention even though I claim a desire for solitude. Why is that I choose the marketplace over the desert? Everyday my bowl is filled to overflowing with the blessings that are poured into my life of word and action&#...

Wednesday, May 12, 2010. By accident we discovered the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum (no I am not being politically incorrect! It was built by German and Irish immigrant stone masons. The impact of this visit hasn't yet registered with me, but it was very powerful and as I digest it I think in time it will find its way into my writing. The day ended with a great steak and salad dinner and homemade bread pudding. Tomorrow we journey to Milton WV to Blenko. Glass and onto Berea. Links to this post. We wer...

A blog about liturgy, faith, snark, beagles, and whatever strikes my fancy. Hopefully mostly liturgy. Wednesday, December 07, 2011. The War on Christmas/Christianity. So long as we permit people to be hungry, homeless, naked and lonely, the war on Christianity continues. Perhaps this Advent season, we could work a little harder to fight those battles, and let store employees off the hook for wishing us "Happy Holidays.". Labels: War on Christmas; politics. Preach on, sister! A-to the freaking-men is right.

A blog about liturgy, faith, snark, beagles, and whatever strikes my fancy. Hopefully mostly liturgy. Monday, November 14, 2011. It's not often I get asked to do stuff like write prayers to the four directions or to incorporate smudging in our congregational life. (More's the pity, I think.) Asperging - sure. Smudging? The wedding was fabulous. The brides were radiant, and the liturgy we'd crafted together happened beautifully. The Spirit was alive and celebrating with us! I slipped out of the reception ...

And perhaps a disappointment to my father, who spent 20 years in the Army and more than 2 additional decades as a military consultant.*. Our government celebrates those who kill "the enemy.".
