CHARIOT: The Austringer (1969)
https://chariotrpg.blogspot.com/2016/12/the-austringer.html
Thursday, 22 December 2016. One of the only surviving stills from the 1969 BBC play The Austringer. A ghost story, for Christmas. Not a folk horror, so much as about a folk horror. I read it to some friends on the darkest night of this year. I must acknowledge a debt of gratitude to my friend Jon Dear for the technical details in this story; every accuracy is his, every error mine, and so this story is dedicated to him. 8226;••. 8220;I won't want to keep any of it.” She is talking to the boxes. Wednesday, 31 August 2016. Chariot: Actually Running the Thing. 160; (A guest post today by my friend Tim Groth. Tim has been one of Chariots most enthusiastic supporters and cheerleaders and his account of running it was so fascinating that I asked to post it here. With his story of magickal AI and hijacked Atlantean propaganda, I think Tim completely gets the sort of atmosphere I wanted the game to have. And I think his game had heart, and heart is sorely what this sort of pastime needs. Monday, 29 Aug...
CHARIOT: We Don't Go Back – Guest Post: The Company of Wolves (1984)

Monday, 2 January 2017. We Don't Go Back – Guest Post: The Company of Wolves (1984). A guest post, this time on Angela Carter's The Company of Wolves. It's by Monique Lacoste. Who I've known for maybe 13 years, although the last time we saw each other in person was when she very kindly let me stay at her home, then in Los Angeles, in 2005. Monique has taken her brief much more seriously than I usually do (this is the first film article I've posted that has a proper bibliography! Something different for e...
CHARIOT: We Don't Go Back #25: Red Shift (1978)
https://chariotrpg.blogspot.com/2017/01/we-dont-go-back-25-red-shift-1978.html
Sunday, 1 January 2017. We Don't Go Back #25: Red Shift (1978). I didn't mean this to happen, but between Christmas holiday parenting, my Other Place of Work (still the best job I ever had), and the pressure to write a ghost story to a deadline. I needed a break from blogging, so I've been pretty quiet, I confess. Also, of the last four subjects in the We Don't Go Back. Project, one was great but honestly pretty tough to write about. One was unpleasant in all the bad ways. And one was just godawful.
CHARIOT: We Don't Go Back #27: Moondial (1988)

Monday, 9 January 2017. We Don't Go Back #27: Moondial (1988). I was 12 when Moondial. Aired It was shown on Wednesday evenings, five minutes past five, in February, just before it got dark. It was appointment TV for me, before I even knew what that meant. I saw the first episode because it was what happened to be on, and made sure I didn't miss another. The second time I watched Moondial. And wouldn't stop until they'd seen it. Afterwards, Elder Son was dismissive, but he's nearly a teenager anyway....

CHARIOT: A letter from Mr Caspar
https://chariotrpg.blogspot.com/2016/12/a-letter-from-mr-caspar.html
Wednesday, 21 December 2016. A letter from Mr Caspar. If the man I have instructed to follow you is armed,. If I have ordered him to put a bullet through your brain. Should you derelict your duty,. Do not be offended; consider it a mark. Of the gravity of your charge,. That you will have in your hands lives,. That you will be expected to deal deaths. You must protect my interests,. Work towards the failure. Of these colleagues who came with me to the West,. Who left behind representatives like yourself.

Monday, 30 January 2017. On a Thousand Walls #2: Candyman (1992). When I started my We Dont Go Back. Project, one of the things that most delighted me about it was that so many of the films I loved were already in the category of folk horror. And it gave me the chance to watch things I hadnt seen for many years. Like Candyman. Candyman. Is one of the very rare pure horror films that I genuinely rate; usually I will always tend towards the artsy, as I have said many times before, but Candyman. Like folk h...
CHARIOT: Deciduous
https://chariotrpg.blogspot.com/2017/01/deciduous.html
Sunday, 1 January 2017. 2016 was the year that it came to us that we had the same problems as everyone else, on a level beyond the purely intellectual. Inasmuch as a year is a period of time to which we ascribe a significance and a limit, 2016 was for most people in the world, a year like any other. All that happened to us was that we finally got to share some of it. The age of miracles. Comment moderation is back on because harassment and frankly this is why you cant have nice things. VIEWS FROM A GREY HEAD
VIEWS FROM A GREY HEAD. Here are some thoughts about the Christian walk. I would be interested in your responses. LOOKING IN A MIRROR. Recently in our fellowship we have been looking at the Letter to the Philippians and James’s letter to the dispersed brothers. This has brought to light how very different human nature is than the nature of Jesus. The general command is that we allow Christ’s nature to be formed in us. There can be no doubt that following Christ, believing in him, is not a passive thing.

Views From a Kaleidoscope
A fresh perspective from our broken bits. Tuesday, March 1, 2016. According to Ecclesiastes, there is a season for everything, including a time to plant and a time to uproot. My Father has me in a season of uprooting and tearing down. Tearing down pride and selfishness. Uprooting control. This has been an eye-opening, humbling process and one that has been overflowing with grace and the forgiveness of my Father. I am so very grateful. Links to this post. Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Views from allston mass. Wednesday, May 12, 2010. So the big North Harvard Street construction project started this morning, the beginning of our summer-long martyrdom at the hands of Boston Water. But there's no use in complaining- the work needs to be done, and at the end of it we'll have shiny new water mains, a new stretch of bike lane (we hope), new improved crosswalks, and more. Maybe, but lucky for us, the BPD sent THREE. Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Close to the 'Pike. But we seldom really though...

Thursday, July 16, 2009. I have decided to live my life for today! Everyday we can sit back, take the backseat and watch our lives continue to be lead, however, we are not driving or we can jump up into the driver's seat, put our foot on the pedal and soar. You ask. Does it really matter? FEAR is a WEAPON. I am lear...
