Travel, nature, photos, Switzerland and the world. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Family, Friends, Flexibility and Fun. So there are many sayings to cover those times when plans don’t quite go as planned:. If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Silver linings on the clouds. One can’t make an omelet without breaking the eggs etc. And there are also many exhorting us as to how to find the good amongst the bad. Yesterday was the proof of the validity of that sentence. A mastectomy had been scheduled for July 17.

Travel, nature, photos, Switzerland and the world. Friday, October 31, 2014. When going home is also. Today ends my six-months “summer” rental in the mountains. And if I say that I am going home for the winter, I am also very much leaving home as for over 10 years I have rented the same flat in the same village in the Swiss Alps. They too have their own “home”, yet they can be said also to be “coming home.”. So as I leave my mountain home I also return to my city home: both are truly homes in my heart.

Travel, nature, photos, Switzerland and the world. Thursday, August 13, 2015. 8220;Gone somewhere, back sometime”. That was the note I left my younger son, my housemate and her husband last Saturday. I had come back from Zurich early – too hot, no air conditioning in the room and a sudden yen to be home – but still had the day card for the Swiss trains and decided that it should get used. The main bus and tram lines start here - under shelter! Civil Engineering since 1865. Zytglogge" or the Clock Tower.

My plume is deep green. I learned to print in first grade in Reading MA. Half way thru the year, I transferred to a private school in Bluefield WV. There I was expected to write cursive without mistakes on ink drops. Infractions brought a sharp hit on the wrist with all too-ready ruler. I write almost everything by c...

DL Nelson is an American-born Swiss writer and journalist. Visit her website www.donnalanenelson.com. Saturday, August 01, 2015. It is not fair. This summer has had almost unbearable heat week after week. Rain was limited to drips and drabs less then a handful of fingers. Today is the Swiss National Day. It is raining. DL Nelson is an American-born Swiss writer and journalist. Visit her website www.donnalanenelson.com. Thursday, August 13, 2015. I never tire of beauty. There's a reason I take many pictures off the balcony over looking the lake. It is always beautiful. The low cloud hovers in a way that makes the Jura look suspended. The day before the clouds looked like snow on the Jura. I often miss the sunsets because we are doing other things. Posted by DL NELSON. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Writing on the iPad is not as easy as my keyboard, although I am use to switching from the American to the Swiss And back again. The only reason I am still here is that I am still draining too much fluid. Dr. M says four to seven days is normal. Still it will be nice to not have too little bottles attached to me, be back home and reunited with my laptop.

As was my ex-husband who would respond, "one more chapter" if I were to knock on the door during his tenure inside. It is a habit I haven't lost either. Bathroom reading by nature needs to be shorter or one risks strange marks on the back of legs. Copies are always in the downstairs toilet. Posted by DL NELSON.

Rick came back from shopping told me to get my camera and go out on the balcony. Today it is in the low 90s but the cloud hanging on the top of the Jura resembled blessed snow. DL Nelson is an American-born Swiss writer and journalist. Visit her website www.donnalanenelson.com. Wednesday, August 05, 2015. Look carefully to see a mole hiding from the scarey humans. The walk to the lake is down a shaded stone path. We try and get down there every night for at least a short time either for a walk or just to enjoy the beauty. Last night a movement caught my eye. At first we thought it was a mouse but it turned out to be a mole of some undetermined species. Posted by DL NELSON.

People smirking at a camera are just not interesting. Even if there's some major tourist attraction behind them like an Eifel tower or a castle - THEY ARE STILL BORING! I'd much rather see a photo of Mom putting stuffing in the turkey, or Auntie laying the top crust of the apple pie. This little girl could have stopped and smiled...

Views From Da Crow's Nest. Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Ike Willis and the Pojama People: Keeping the Legend Alive in 2009. As I walked up the ramp to a delivery door in back of the Red Fox Tavern, I couldn’t help notice the silhouette of an Afro lurking in the shadows. Views from flyover country

Views from flyover country. Sunday, December 30, 2007. Liberalism is the New Feudalism. I am going to try and make this as simple as possible. Liberalism, which is really socialism, is the new feudalism. Now if you were listening in junior high school history, you may know what feudalism was. Feudalism was a form government used in Europe in the dark or middle ages. It consisted mainly of a ruling class and serfs. How possibly could I compare today’s liberalism to feudalism? Easy, if these socialists get...

I’m super excited because they are off and running. As a runner, I am always proud to help others get moving. They’re something about being able to lace up your sneakers and go move. The Couch to 5K program is great because it is designed for people who are just taking up running. Alternate between walking and running until you build strength.
