Setting the world to rights".one blog at a time! Plus anything else that comes to mind. View my complete profile. Friday, 15 March 2013. A little history first. From what I can make out.more or less. Pre 1522 the islands may or may not have been reached by Pategonian Indians. 1522-1600 sighted by Portuguese, British and Dutch ships; may or may not have been overwintered in by the Spanish. 1690 Britain explored them. 1764 France inhabited the east. 1765 Britain inhabited the west. It's been 180 years sinc...

The cafe attached to the hotel was not the best so I decided to get breakfast on the road, not such a good idea as it turned out. Places were few and far between and I didn't like the look of any of them so I was pretty hungry when I got to Dawson City. I could have sworn he was laughing at me, it was so funny. Yes, I K...

Setting the world to rights".one blog at a time! Plus anything else that comes to mind. View my complete profile. Wednesday, 14 November 2012. There was a time when it would take me an hour and a half to get to work then an hour and a half home again. Walk, train, change, train, walk or underground or bus. From the London suburbs into Victoria station and up to Knightsbridge or whichever branch of the bank I was working in at the time. Now look at my commute, and only 15 minutes.

IN XANADU: March 2014

http://jacks-perspective.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 15, 2014. With the encouragement of my wife, I've decided to attempt to write a story (I'm far more comfortable with writing plays.) So, for your consideration, here is a small section. The character "speaking" was born in India in 1930, so the time now would be about 1946. Sometime in the sixteenth year of my life my father came to me with the following offer. “Son, I think it’s time to buy you a new suit.”. 8220;Would you like to know why? 8220;It’s for your wedding day.”. Well, almost ...

IN XANADU: Another Contest

Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Posted by Jack Petersen. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). In Xanadu did Kubla Kahn. A stately pleasure-dome decree:. Where Alph, the sacred river, ran. Through caverns measureless to man. Down to a sunless sea. So twice five miles of fertile ground. With walls and towers were girdled round:. And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,. Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree;. And here were forests ancient as the hills,. Enfolding sunny spots of greenery. If the...

IN XANADU: November 2013

http://jacks-perspective.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 24, 2013. Sorry we haven't chatted in awhile. Writing has picked up considerably. So has exposure, apparently. I entered a short play in a local contest. It won a presentation, which was a week or so ago. I attended, and I must tell you, it's always a grand feeling when you see people saying your words, expressing your thoughts . I entered TWO one-act plays in a contest in Atlanta, Georgia. This was months ago, and I have been told that both. I'm having a good year so far.). As always, t...

IN XANADU: Chat

http://jacks-perspective.blogspot.com/2013/08/chat.html

Friday, August 23, 2013. Today is Friday, August 23rd, 2013 at exactly 9:01 PM, according to the little measurer of time that's built into my computer. I don't know why I feel that it's important to have said that, except that when I post these things sometimes it says it's 2:47 in the morning and it really isn't. I co-directed a play a couple of years ago, and I should have known better this time. It's like two men in a canoe trying furiously to paddle in different directions at the same time.). I am ac...

IN XANADU: Shameless Plug time ...

http://jacks-perspective.blogspot.com/2014/01/shameless-plug-time.html

Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Shameless Plug time . I know, I know. It's been awhile. Again. It started when I became a major winner in a playwriting contest in Indiana. At the same time my agent dropped off the face of the earth. The two events together started me in a new direction. Since my wife is a published novelist on Amazon, I got the idea of doing the same thing - publishing plays. On Amazon. Sixteen. Of 'em, all re-written in Amazon-speak. Took months. Posted by Jack Petersen. Down to a sunless sea.

IN XANADU: The Civil War In Syria, And Our Involvement In It.

http://jacks-perspective.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-civil-war-in-syria-and-our.html

Wednesday, September 4, 2013. The Civil War In Syria, And Our Involvement In It. I posted this on Facebook and got such a response that I thought I would re-post it here. I have been reading with great interest about our growing itch to involve ourselves in the Syrian civil war. We are presently approaching the point where Congress and the Senate will approve the President’s request to punish the President of Syria for (supposedly) gassing his own people. This brings three questions to my mind. On my own...

IN XANADU: A (somewhat) New Path

http://jacks-perspective.blogspot.com/2013/09/a-somewhat-new-path.html

Tuesday, September 3, 2013. A (somewhat) New Path. I took back my life a few days ago. As a writer, I've enjoyed my share of success. Certainly I've seen a number of my plays produced. But there was always a quality. Of course. Eventually. In the meantime I'm looking, and finding the present situation not entirely unpleasant. Just this week I got back from visiting my new doctor . (I've outlived my previous THREE. What does that. And how was YOUR day? Posted by Jack Petersen. September 10, 2013 at 8:50 PM.

Oppsummering (oppdatert nylig, dvs. Means that we will get them to work there until they die of radioactive radiation. 12288;複数の政府関係者によると、東電側が14...

Building on it in the future if growth required it. When I left the board in 2012 these were some of the last discussions I had with fellow board members, and also the possibility of having to build another Middle School on the current property which I was ok with it if circumstances warranted it. This blog began in the fall of 2008 as a record of my experiences in Paris with the Nouveau Parti Anti-Capitaliste (NPA). I resume writing now, in February 2014, with the intention of commenting on the upcoming EU elections. I write from Boston with particular interest in France, Italy, and all the parties and movements in Europe that are trying to create a sustainable alternative to the impending capitalist catastrophe. Friday, May 16, 2014. The EU's Great Debate. But was there anything to say? Since th...
